You say that, because you haven't gotten it yet. For all you know there's cash and prizes on the other side.

Other problem: how about resources?
You'll notice that in literature, immortal creatures have a very, very low fertility rate. Of course, if you're going to live forever with all your family and friends, it might not sound too bad... But what happens if you have immortal humans with a normal fertility rate?

I don't watch the show but she looks very attractive to me, and not much older than Laurie Holden or Norman Reedus (only other castmembers I know)

(Anonymous) 2013-04-05 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
a few times you can see a sort of love for her, almost. but then afterwards, you see it's this fight between loving her as an object and loving her..... idk. She comes close to true affection, but never quite makes the mark

The point is that the argument that "if gun laws were more relaxed, there would be no crime" is as ridiculous as the argument that "if gun laws were more strict, there would be no crime." Whether violent crime is committed with a gun or not, its prevalence or scarcity is used by both sides to support positions that are ultimately too simplistic to do much good.

But they didn't really fear it because they didn't sit down and wax poetical and write a treatise on it. Animals can't do that, you see. Ergo, animals can't feel fear.

I think the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie has one. And there's this art: http://gingerhaole.tumblr.com/post/44417560666/once-upon-a-time-i-drew-a-mermaid-and-a-pirate and http://katlay.tumblr.com/tagged/Shore%3A-A-love-story

What publicly shared opinion of theirs are you referring to though? If a black person is upset at a game having racism on it and decides not to play the game because of that, what is even there to engage?

I think people should always have the final say in what media they consume. It's perfectly reasonable to me that someone who experiences racism might not want to spend their free, personal time playing a game that shows them something that they already know is gross by personal experience.

Wasn't she some sort of lawyer before the Zombie Apocalypse? She was probably used to getting automatic respect based on social status and since Zombies don't need lawyers now has no marketable skill in the new normal. That feeling of entitlement due to what she remembers, and her new status has got to burn. She has to start at the bottom and pay her dues all over again, 'cept she didn't want to do that. She wanted her old status back quick. That is real liability there.

Police, despite what tv likes to tell us, are no help

Yeah. It isn't domestic abuse, it is domestic arguments. Private matter, none of their business. Up to the couple to resolve. Up to the Husband to sort out, never the woman involved (which manages to be an equal opportunities hindrance on the rare occasions it is female-on-male abuse too).

Yeah, all new police officers and deputies are supposed to be trained, and get additional training to say that attitude is wrong. But ongoing training isn't a budget priority these days, so top up training almost never happens. Defying the "politically correct" is seen as a good thing and a badge of honor. Good old peer pressure happens when new meat officer is taken under the wing of grizzled old hand to tell them "all the things they didn't teach you at the academy, and what to leave alone". And of course the good old Blue Wall of Silence, where is one bigot in uniform decides to let the abuser off the hook, the rest will aid and abet in public and reserve any criticism for inside the locker room.

Plus misogyny is rampant throughout American culture right now for some reason.

Honestly, most of the new games that are ~multi-player~ and online based and trying to be bigger and better than the rest? They don't appeal to me. I got a PS3 as a gift and I only really use it for the Naruto games (I'm using it to catch up to the Shippuden story and it's a fun fighting game) and to play stuff like Devil May Cry or whatever. I keep downloading the Persona games onto it.

Most modern games just... don't appeal to me. Video games, for me, are partly about being involved in another world, getting sucked into a fantastic story. They might look as ~pretty~ as PS3 games but most of my favorites - and most of what I play now - are on the PS2. I feel like people probably look down their nose at me for not being a ~twu gamer grrl~ because I don't do Call of Duty or online bullshit, but it's just not what interests me.

You like what you like. Nothing wrong with enjoying simpler things.

So? It shouldn't matter what I call their pairings if I respect them and even enjoy the shipping.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-05 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The artist would be cypher http://www.y-gallery.net/user/cypher/ and the pairing would be cecil/rubicante. from ff4 obv

99% of my fandom life is stanning for women over 40. I will tell you from experience, being "old and plain" makes characters invisible to most of fandom.

Unless they have some other trait that kicks them back into fandom's traditional line of sight they're the characters whom nobody even remembers to like or dislike. Or to include on fandom polls.

I wish we had Comps this side of the water. Because going into viva with your brain coming up with elaborate scenarios about how you were accepted by accident and are entirely incompetent is nagl.

Wait, what? I think you misunderstood me. Maybe I misunderstood you too.

I'm talking about people who insist others not play it, and condemn the writers as racist for including racism in a game that takes place in 1912. I'm not talking about condemning people for not playing a game! You're right, that'd be awful.

That's the impression I got too.

I remember seeing a documentary on cannibalism in an anthropology class, then going over to a friend's house and watching Audition...and then being REALLY hungry for meat afterwards. Said friend felt the same way, so we went to a nearby 24-hour grocery store and bought a rotisserie chicken.

I dunno, man.

Oh, I know. I was just trying to think of what I'd call crack pairs, and going "... No, I could probably actually see that, would it be insulting to call that cracky?" My popularity meter isn't very functional at the best of times, so I keep wondering if what I call crack pairs would be what someone else would just call a rare but perfectly serious pair.

I mean, I've read ... Havelock Vetinari/Nanny Ogg, for example, which seems pretty cracky, but it could be done well, and how would I know the difference? Like that?
