Yeah, that they don't even interact in the books makes me a little sad, but at the same time it leaves a lot of room for my own and other people's interpretation of their relationship, so I don't feel too bad about that.

I look eagerly to see them interact in the next movies, though.

Both these characters are relative ciphers, so you can go in many directions with them without outright contradicting canon, but I really don't see why you would go straight for the parental incest. If you must write Tolkien elf father-son incest, go for the House of Feanor.

Heh, I wasn't exactly looking for father-son incest when I stumbled upon that fic, more for father-son generic relationships.

But I completely agree, the House of Feanor has potentiality for that, in spades.

Fancy? The Silvan and Sindarin folks? I think the noldor are the fancy elves. The Mirkwood's elves are more wild (they drink so much, even Legolas), and their lives are in constant danger for the spiders and orcs and the weird shit in the woods. I mean, I don't think they are so stick.

I agree with the other anon, the Sindar and Silvan Elves are probably a bit more down to earth than other elves? Can't argue about the old words, though I wouldn't mind knowing more Sindarin dirty words... XD

Huh. The one time I ever shipped anything for Thranduil was an incest fic with Legolas. It was about a drunk bout of sex that left them soulbonded and all the trouble that ends up causing.

It probably dates from the time you mention too, as that was about the time I was in LotR (as opposed to The Hobbit, where I'm shipping Dwarves and Hobbits instead of elves).

(I still ship Valar though, but now I'm even more in favour of canon pairings. Some day I may even write that romance shortfic about Aulë and Yavanna.)

I think the only pairing I used to really ship in Tolkien were Beren and Lúthien. After watching The Hobbit I started visiting archives out of nostalgia... and then Thranduil and Legolas just happened XD

(That would be great, about Aulë and Yavanna. I actually haven't read many Valar fics... maybe I should start...!)

I was thinking of Bone Fauna’s fics. I've never read them, but it's the only Thranduil/Legolas I've known about. I think they were written back then, too.

I expect that after The Desolation of Smaug there will be quite a bit of Thranduil/Legolas.

It amused me to no end when, in that fic, an amnesiac Thranduil wakes up and finds Legolas innocently sleeping next to him and the first thing he does is congratulating himself on the beauty of the elf he doesn't recognize but thinks is probably his lover. It felt so in character with the current Tumblr Thranduil persona... XD
