Not that I don't agree with this secret, but... oh god, the irony here. XD STILL. Yes. Having been both a participant and a victim of said passive-aggressive shit, IAWTC.

[identity profile] runic-binary.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Actually, I really didn't care for it. I thought it was overdramatic and poorly-written.

6, 9. Woot, Discworld secrets~

14. ...Emmy?

18. I never saw the end of the series or even much past the first season and a half, but if Shego and Draken ended up together I will seriously scream like a five-year-old girl. OTP~

20. Rocko's Modern Life was AWESOME.

Also, 24

[identity profile] runic-binary.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
This morning in class we watched a video about teenagers who had a crazy underground orgy group/drug ring/physical and mental abuse...thing going on, and a question on the corresponding handout was "Does this behavior shock you?" and I swear to god I actually wrote down "Not really; I'm in fandom" before the coffee kicked in and I erased it.

LOL. OMG, I rocked back too far in my chair and almost fell over.

So true.

[identity profile] sky-dark.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
20. Rocko's Modern Life was better than sliced bread, no really.
26. Wow, bitter much?

[identity profile] kurenai-tenka.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
25- ...yeaah but no matter how funny it may be, I'd never watch it. XD; I may be sick in the process, ack.

[identity profile] yui-hime.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
#12) I SEE YOU~~~ ♥

#18) That is really hot. REALLY.

#22) It's not so much "forgetting" as it is "rejecting"... because a lot of KH fiction is porn, and Disney characters and porn tend not to go together too well, and the fans who write the porn think Disney is for small children and old people. Frankly, I'm impressed the Final Fantasy characters are still so popular after the Organization debuted.

[identity profile] yui-hime.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
*Disney ANIMAL characters. Because to be honest with you? I'd totally do Snow White's stepmother. She was amazing hot.

[identity profile] soaker87.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
20- I loved that show.

26- Hate to say, but maybe you're being a bit mean.

28- XD

27 and then I swear I'll shut up

[identity profile] runic-binary.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Soooo...Vince. Question."

"Shoot."

"...you ever gonna let me drive?"

"...aw, jeez, Larry. Look, we've been through this before-- I'm just not a passenger."

"Well, you might like it if you tried it, ya know. You could just kinda take it easy and let me do the work for once?"

"I dunno...I really don't think it's for me."

"You won't even try it? For me?"

"...can we talk about this later?"

"Oh, it's always 'later' with you, isn't it? Are you really so insecure in your mannequinhood that you can't even let me drive one time?"

"Larry, I really don't need this today."

"Oh yeah? Well let me tell you something. That cute guy in the front window of Macy's modeling the new fall fashions? He made a pass at me the other day! I do not need you, Vincent!"

(Oh god I am officially going to hell.)

I love you ♥

[identity profile] mildmay.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
5. I've read that book 3 times (once on my own, twice for school) and while I can see why it's considered important and a classic It's not a book I particularly enjoyed, either.

I loved Wide Sargasso Sea, though.

20

[identity profile] sirhellsing420.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That show was pure and incredible WIN. :D

[identity profile] subtextsmile.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
5. ... I liked it, but I can absolutely see how you hated it. Personally, I could apply your description to Wuthering Heights, because I could NOT stand that book. It's one of the few books I actually had to use sparknotes to even get through it.

6&9: Discworld secrets FTW.

12. Pence! I remember he exists, even though his role was rather small. I rather like him, too.

20. Turn the page, wash your hands...

22. Are there any fics with them in it? Any at all? Because I was craving gen, friendship fic after finishing the games, and was unsuccessful. KH!Disney characters = <3 in my mind, but few seem to agree.

25. Never seen the anime you're referencing, but ahaha Manos: The Hands of Fate. Thank god for MST3K, otherwise I could not have watched it without wanting to break something

22.

[identity profile] maeda.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Tons. You just have to know where to look.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
5. I remember reading Jane Eyre in high school. It was an ok book but sometimes the drama was way too much. I don't know what people see in that book other than the typical Cinderella story. Though the book that tops it all and that I absolutely hate is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. URG! That book is way worse than Jane Eyre and until today I haven't seen a person who hates that book like I do. I guess people have different tastes. :|

11. DIABLO! <3 <3

12. Pence is awesome!

20. Rocko's Modern Life. Aaaaw. So many childhood memories!

25. LOL. Don't worry...you're not the only one who laughed so hard watching them. xD

35. When did elves become mary sues? Am I missing something? D:

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's an elf lulz!" Became an excuse used by suethors to make their characters have ZOMGSPECHULPOWAHS!!1!!!one So, it's no wonder people started to make the association, which is honestly quite sad.

[identity profile] maeda.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Woo, Discword secrets! I approve!

12 He is pretty awesome.

20 Hell YEEEAAAHHH. Oldschool Nick was the best. I hate that whole "educational content requirement" the law's got going on now, because shit, that's not what cartoons are about.

24 Same. Not ashamed, though. Kinks are fabulous.

26 I think I've seen this secret before. Way back. Pre-100, maybe.

31 No fucking shit. IAWTC.

lol, discword.

[identity profile] maeda.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's try that again.

Woo, Discworld secrets! I approve!

Oh, and 13...

7. Man. Everything I hear about icon-maker circles makes them all sound crazy.

13. ...do you mean "beta?" Uh, hate to break it to you, but judging from the spelling in that secret you seriously need them, like it or not.

22. Uh...I'm gonna say it's because while the bulk of the rest of the cast is comprised of OMGBISHOUNEN, they are anthropomorphic cartoon animals. C'mon, really, what do you think the fangirls are gonna flock to?

31. Seconded.

33. HO SHIT GARGAMEL!

35. Not all elves are Mary-Sues...but many Mary-Sues are elves.

9, 13

[identity profile] vulgarweed.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally want to read Vetinari/Random Young Straight-Guy Virgin now. That's hawt.

WTF is a "beata"? FAIL.

I'm glad to see someone else hated that book. God, I wanted to just punch Jane in the face D

[identity profile] gynophobia.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
10. I AGREE! IT JUST WONT END! T_T!!!

22. I love Donald and Goofy. They don't get the love they deserve.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)

1. What is that? It looks so familiar but I can't place it.

24. I feel you. Nothing squicks me these days and it's entirely fandom's fault.

26. I understand where you're coming from because I did have to deal with someone basically ripping off every fanfic I wrote, however it was more of a plagiarism issue for me. Plagiarism isn't cool, but if this person is just starting out and can't really help herself, why should it matter? You seem to be too wrapped up in it. Destroying fandom for someone just makes you seem like a complete bitch whore. You're not always going to like what people do in fandom and someone will eventually start ripping you off on a long enough time line. I've seen it done time after time to the point that some fics read like fanfiction of someone else's fanfiction. Just get over it.

32. Who? I'm terribly curious 'cos there were a few that left during that shit that made me kind of glad to see them go. I got so tired of the frakking martyrdom.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-15 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
It's from BBC's recent Robin Hood series. Guy of Gisborne and Marian, to be precise.

[identity profile] amandier.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
12. Pence is such a lifesaver! <3

16. Same here!

20. GOSH YES, whoever you are, I ADORE YOU, OKAY?! Rocko~'s modern life FTW!

35. There are people like that? What gives?

13

[identity profile] el-hustino.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Despite having already been said, the irony of this secret is too much for me to ignore.

If you dislike constructive criticism that strongly, then you should probably stop writing immediately, as you're doing nothing more than hindering the quality and development of your own writing and abilities.

...Seriously, 'beata'?

[identity profile] enjolras.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
10. RAN AND SHINICHI. ♥

20. Then... I am okay? Because Rocko was one of my FAVORITE shows growing up. :DDD

22. So many people hate the Disney characters. I don't see how you can play the game if you do, but whatever. :\

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
But they get in the way of my bishies and oversimplified, uncomplicated or for that matter even thematic plotline!!!!

I call that my junior year of high school. Except it wasn't for Diskworld and it wasn't femmeslash.

[identity profile] valkyriur.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
#20, I love that show so much.

#28, I hate it when people combo names. It's so stupid. You can't tell who people are talking about unless you know the show when they do it; even if you do, I've seen some combos that I couldn't make heads or tails out of. /rant/

#13

[identity profile] fallia.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Let me be real blunt about this, because you need to hear it. What your situation tells me is that people see potential in your writing, but as-is it sucks.

The fact that people volunteer to beta for you? Means people like your ideas. That's good. On the other hand, it means that your writing itself is clunky and difficult to read. The fact that you never hear from these people again? Means that you're either rejecting their suggestions or that they are overwhelmed by the technical problems with your writing.

Bottom line: your writing is detracting from your stories, but people are still interested enough to want to help you. Get a good grammar book, learn it, and love it. Then learn to be receptive to constructive criticism and stop hating on people who want you to succeed.
