17. All I can think about is how bad his comic was. It was like Dark Horse was trying to make it bomb.

25. Me too! I laughed so hard! It's so hilariously bad with the kids doing bondage and the sister touching herself. Oh god. So bad.

34. I know! It was so sweet. Blue/Gold 4ever. *heart* I really need to read the new issue!

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
4. HOLY SHIT, I could've WRITTEN this secret. I thought the whole fandom around them was creepy as shit, but then I had this dream and now I can't get enough of them. XD Weird how that happens, huh?

20. ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE FTW. :D I have that problem, too though. "Oh, you liked Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys? You rock!" "Yaay, another Death Note fan!"

24. God, I know what you mean. Nothing squicks me anymore, either. I kinda wish stuff did, because I feel like a freak when I read the total line-crossing stuff.

25. !!! MY HERO. XD Watching those OVAs with a group of guys was the most fun I'd had in ages.

25 OP

Wow, lucky! I don't have any friends at present who would be able to withstand the squick long enough for the funny. Even with bourbon on-hand! ... Which sounds like a plan for the third OVA, if it ever shows up.

22. The only reason why I even own KH is for the Disney characters. I'm not an FF fan. :O!

25. Unintentionally funny like Manos? Oh god, I need to watch this.

"I've vowed to destroy every shred of respectability you have. I will, too."

No, you won't.

First, to pull off that kind of attack, you have to be able to keep your mouth shut and maneuver behind the scenes. You've already fucked that up by posturing to your flist. If you want to play with the big bitches, you have to know how to work the game, and you've already failed.

Second, because if you try to "destroy" someone for writing derivative fanfic, you'll end up revealing yourself to be a humorless twat, and fandom sympathy will automatically be with your target. Again, you'll fail.

Grow up, and try to gain a sense of humor. Or at least go away and come back when you know what you're doing.

1. I slash emo!Sir Guy with the sheriff... or with drunken!Much.

3. Perhaps it comes down to the fact you're so much more emotionally involved with fandom characters than with, say, ancient relatives or something. I don't know, but I do get where you're coming from.

6. Been there, done that, written the smut to boot. Also! Discworld femslash? I'm so there. :D

13. *puts on nasty bitchy spelling Nazi hat* WTF is a "beata"?

20. HEY! I remember that cartoon! :D Rocko's Modern Life, no? I loved that show! :D

24. Aye, me too. Nothing much squicks me anymore. I blame fandom and too many late nights spent watching Oz and Queer As Folk (US). XD My slash-addled brain finds slashy amusement everywhere as well. Yes, even in politics. XD

[identity profile] dorknessrising.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
13. Well, beata is Latin meaning "blessed," as in Beata Maria, but I highly doubt the OP meant it that way.

Of course, I read the secret with Tony Jay singing "Hellfire" in the back of my head, so...

34. I have no hope that Ted will ever come back (that way it'll be extra awesome when he does), but the fact that the *FIRST* thing Booster insisted on once he decided to really do it was: "Bitch, we're gonna get my BFF back."

ALTHOUGH, if they are going to bring him back, this would be the way to do it, since if he's off time-travelling and dimension hopping with Booster, no one in the "normal" timeline even have to know that he didn't die. History would continue unfettered, and Jaime can keep his book! (not that he'll lose it either way).

I-I- that's just the stuff fuzzy, warm, comic book feelings are made out of. ♥

What I meant to say was:

but the fact that the *FIRST* thing Booster insisted on once he decided to really do it was: "Bitch, we're gonna get my BFF back." was incredibly refreshing, since I was almost anticipating that Geoff Johns would gloss over just how much Ted's death fucked Booster up, and just how much he wanted him back. Also, for bonus points JOHNS REMEMBERED MICHELLE. :D

... if you're talking about the RP I think you are, and not RPs in general, uh. :( Bummer. It seems unlikely. Unless there's a meltdown.

07. orrr maybe we just like your icons... don't read too much into what may just be a simple compliment.

13. i'm sure you've gotten this a dozen times already... but there's only one 'A' in 'BETA'.

10. So true

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
24. Nothing squicks you people anymore? Wow. I mean, online shit that's not real is like wtfever who cares, but when I read shit like Queen v Dudley and Stevens cannibal shit with congealed osmosed blood drinking in full graphic detail or my crim professor goes on about horrible 14th century death sentences involving pouring molten lead into people's navels and assholes, or read about a pedophile murderer who killed six little boys brutally, I feel it.

I mean, I'm not shocked, but I'm certainly squicked.

=\

26. Fuck off. No one likes you.

24.

[identity profile] repeatvoffender.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Insanely valid point.

Not that I'm one of these people claiming to never be squicked, anymore.

20. Rocko's Modern Life = totally awesome! :D I don't get to catch it that often, it seems like they show it at weird hours, or something.

26. You know, if her attempting to emulate your stories bothers you this much, maybe you should sit down and talk with this person about it instead of trying to "destroy" them? While I do think that copying or plagiarizing others stories is pretty lame, why do you feel it necessary to ruin fandom for her instead of helping her out, giving her some advice to avoid pissing other people in the fandom off, maybe even help her out a little bit with her fics.

Even if you don't like her personally, you should at least bring the issue up to her instead of trying to make her online life miserable.

It's sad. People are so quick to take the easy way out by ripping someone apart instead of taking some time to help the person better themselves. Situations like this are why I don't really like getting involved with people in fandom. Bad enough we have to deal with asshats in real life, but now we even have to worry about them in the online world?

30. There is one fandom I enjoy reading badfic for and that would be Star Ocean. I've found some hilariously bad stuff written there. In several of my other fandoms, the badfic isn't hilarious... It's just downright awful. LOL

Responding anonymously to not possibly out the secreter who might probably be who I think it is!

And if I am right, you can take some comfort in the fact that I don't think anyone was after you in particular. And, even if I'm not right? That's very possibly the case. RPs, like any social structure, have their do's and don't's, their in's and out's. It's unfortunate, but it's just a fact that in no place is everyone going to get along perfectly, and as soon as someone doesn't get along perfectly, sides are formed.

Actually, this was used as an example in a creative writing class of mine once. If you have two people dialoging, A and B, and they are fighting, they are enemies and it's all clear cut. But as soon as you throw in a third person? There are sides. It could be person C is an authority figure or a bully, and suddenly A and B, who still don't like each other, still like each other more than either likes C... And thus you have a clique! JUST LIKE THAT.

They aren't really bad things, people talk about them being bad things because in highschool everyone had that ONE GROUP of crappy people. They tend to not realize they themselve are also in a clique. It never seems as restrictive when you're on the inside. It's also entirely possible to not realize you've been included into a group that shuns others, or that others shun! Cuz any semi-decent RP is going to be Mostly Nice most of the time! And if people like you? They're going to still like you even if you're hanging out with people they don't like. At least, hopefully. And if you said "I want to play with everyone"? I doubt anyone was mad at you for that, cuz it's a nice thing to say. It just means there were pre-existing issues you maybe weren't aware of. And if you're a nice, sensative person who pays attention to what others thing (as you seem to be, judging by the secret?) then maybe you weren't aware because the issues weren't really ABOUT YOU, you just opened up the gates for others to bring up their problems with this clique.

And well! Obviously this is pretty well focused on my idea of who/what this is so if that's just, random babbling, I apologize. I hope you work it out anyway. If not? Don't quit, don't feel unwelcome unless anyone actually told you to GTFO. We've all been in a situation where we felt targetted by an issue we weren't aware of that apparently others had been and just NEVER SAID ANYTHING. And it sucks, but all that means is that there is misunderstandings involved, stuff to talked about, understood, and put behind you. Don't quit if you're still having fun.

I'm not sure why it would be better if people just didn't care about my feelings, than if they actively disliked me.

It's moot in any case. Nobody posts something positive and gets something negative like that unless they are disliked. Nobody gets dogpiled like that unless they are unwelcome.

Otherwise, someone would step up and say: this is not appropriate. Otherwise, the original criticizer would have realized it was not appropriate.

Then you probably don't like me. :( During my time of reading mostly fantasy books, I think I've come across in total two elves that I liked (and they were, unfortunately, not main characters), but usually, they are a bunch of Marys. Then, maybe I was just unlucky with books, but whenever I come across books where the main characters are elves nowadays, I run for the hills, just in case; never again I will force my brain to get through the stories of Elevnmaid Auroíuôella, translation Prettyladywondervoicewithgoldenhairandsunshineinhersilverorbs (*example name, but you get my problem).
All in all, it's not the elves' fault (how could it be, they're fictional), more that of crappy authors who think this race is their free ticket to stop developing believable characters. Good authors can make them likeable. But that's nothing new in literature.

17. Oh my god I knooooow~ ;3; I was cheering for Major Victory, too, but was so happy when Frequency won. <3 (The new season isn't as good :/)
22. It probably has something to do with the fact that (at least) 80% of the fandom doesn't play those games for the Disney characters?

5. Try Wuthering Heights. Ten times worse, and I was forced to study it twice in a row. All the Brontes can piss off, afaic.

13. It's beta, as in the second letter of the greek alphabet, as in the second person that's read the writing (yourself, the writer, being the alpha.) If you mean they ran off with your stories, that sucks. I'd offer my own services, but you've obviously got trust issues now (I don't really blame you) and I don't know what fandom you write for. Maybe stick your nose in [livejournal.com profile] betabowl

22. Okay so, if you wanted to read FF, you'd go to FF fandom? Well, if I wanted to read Disney, I'd go to Disney fandom. If you've really got an issue, stop whining and do something about it.

26. FANDOM: SERIOUS BUSINESS. Get over yourself.

5. Haha, we had to read that for 2nd year high school... it was okay, but nothing I'd re-read. Ugh god overanalysis though. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME 305469802 TIMES WHAT THAT DAMN CHAPTER IS TRYING TO TELL ME I GET IT I GET IT.

He's also a real sweetheart out of the suit, too. My best friend met him at Dragon*Con and said he was just one of the nicest guests he'd ever run into. (Though I admit I'm a little biased because he and I both volunteer for Recording For the Blind and Dyslexic.)
