So I stayed up all night listening to the Boston scanner. Slept for 3 hours and started listening again. Sounds like they finally have him pinned.

I did the same thing except we're in a different time zone I think, because I stayed up till like 3:30 listening on scanners last night and stuff, then I had to wake up three hours later for work and have been at work all day. It's been pretty brutal. But at least it sounds like they have him pinned down now (crossing fingers)

Moving in now.

Really hope they manage to take him alive.

Reading that he's in a boat, surrounded, sitting in someone's backyard.

My twitter feed is so confusing and I stayed up way too late last night following this :(

A sliver of me actually feels sorry for the kid. The more information that is coming out the more it is looking out that this is a case of big brother manipulating little brother into following his agenda. The kid was fine while big brother was over seas. He was a typical Walking Dead watching, prom going, pot smoking, car obsessed, twitter tweeting, worrying about his grades teenager. Then big brother comes back overseas and this happens.

And if this is case, what type of older brother was he to do this to his younger brother? You are suppose to love and protect your brother not twist him into doing something that will almost guarantee him a death sentence.

I know there are many F!Sers here with siblings. Close siblings. What do you think?

I feel sorry for the victims. I feel sorry for the younger brother if he was manipulated. I don't have one ounce of pity for the older brother. One of the worst brothers in history.

The most insane thing about this is that apparently the kid went back to his university on Wednesday and was just working out and chilling with people? or at least i read that somewhere

Yeah I feel awful for this kid. It definitely sounds like his brother was the leader in this. I'm not even checking my FB because it's full of people calling for his death - usually bloody and awful ways. The whole situation is awful.

I feel a little bit of pity for the older brother, too. He was taken in by this ideology when he was still just a kid himself.

It's a kid? That...that is so damn sad. I...well, I hope he doesn't get the death penalty. Kids can be so fucking dumb, especially if he was manipulated in to it. Granted he could be a horrible kid with something wrong that would grow into an equally horrible adult but...damn, a kid.

Saying this as an older sibling, because one of my brothers is, well, he's dumb as fuck (not his fault obviously, he's just a bit on the slow side). He set fire to a park backed up to a school once, in fire season, because the older boys he was hanging with goaded him into it and he just never thinks of consequences. (he was 12 at the time). It took several years of hard work to break their hold on him and he's pretty awesome now, on the right track.

But he's still really dumb at thinking about consequences to actions. We just kinda had to hammer in "don't do all these things no matter what".

So when I hear about things like this where a kid is the perpetrator I just D: D: D: because they're probably going to be tried as an adult, their future is basically gone - and all because they're just the usual dumb kid.

Any sympathy I might have had for that little POS went out the window when I saw the image of him placing the damn bomb behind that poor innocent eight year old kid. He apparently also ran over his brother with a car, so lol. Hope he gets the death penalty.

I didn't hear about what happened overnight until a couple hours ago. It does sound like they have him pinned down -- I just hope he didn't have a chance to take anyone hostage.

One suspect, not moving.

Most people who commit large scale violent crimes (terror attacks, workplace shootings, etc) are males between 18 and 35 :(

I keep hearing cars honking and drunk kids cheering and yelling outside my window. It's kind of gross, like the Red Sox just won the World Series. C'mon, people. Show some decorum. Even my roommates are like, "Yeah, we did it!" We? We just sat around inside all day and watched the news.

Maybe this is gonna sound weird, but...

I'm really, really upset that they're Muslim. Over the past week, I've been desperately wanting it to not be a Muslim, because we all know how people react to that. Random innocent Muslims have already started being attacked for being "terrorists."

It's so stupid. No one ever says, "we need to be suspicious of all white teenage males because they're the ones most likely to shoot up schools!" But because Muslims are "different," a few easily become the many. Sure, there are extremist Muslims whose ideology leads them to hate the West, but that's not all Muslims by any stretch of the imagination. And, in this case, it may have nothing to do with it; the elder brother had just spent time in Russia, which isn't exactly happy with the US right now. The motivations could very well have been nationalist rather than religious.

It's just...it's a bad situation and I feel like it's now only going to be made worse by people giving in to bigotry.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm still kind of hoping (I mean, not really hoping, because it's horrible no matter what, but you know what I mean) that it turns out to be nationalist or personal rather than religious. Not that it should be better if it were that, but...

The older brother actually favors USA over Russia and Chechnya over USA. Unfortunately, religious extremism seem to be a better motivation in this case.

Considering witnesses have said the brothers were arguing over Islam, and how the "US government uses the bible to invade countries" (Fucking hilarious, as the extremists use their damn bible to incite wars in other countries), and that the bible "was just a cheep version of the Quran", and blahblah evil US government, I'm almost positive this was Muslim Extremist related.

He used a bomb that came right out of inspire terrorist magazine, it doesn't get any more obvious than that.

So is it confirmed if the dude is the dude who did the bombing, an accomplice or just a suspect-suspect?

Not to rain on the celebration or anything, there's just the small bit going "what if it's not someone who was involved"

which is why he and his brother murdered an officer in a desperate attempt to flee the state, and then got into a heavy gunfight with police later on, and then hid for several hours while gravely wounded

it was him. him and his brother. end of story
