People have been worrying over time travel for centuries, it's not exclusive to you. Just because you found it through Doctor Who doesn't make your interest invalid or dangerous.

I will say that what you're describing isn't uncommon, and it's the reason a lot of people get into fandoms, but if it bothers you, then it makes sense to think of it as something not good. I love my shows and my fandoms, but having my thoughts taken over by them (especially when I first get into them) is inconvenient and and uncomfortable for me. I hope you're able to get this all calmed down to a point where you're comfortable.

In all honesty, I don't blame you. The most recent seasons of the show are all about time-fuckery and can really mess with your head if you think about them too much. I mean, there are so many alternate realities and different timelines and versions of events, and it's really difficult to think of WHO those characters actually are anymore. It's...really distressing really.

So if it's really bothering you that much, I suggest just taking a step back and watching a little less Who (or reading fic, or whatever). And maybe delve into some mindless, not-genre-at-all, all-set-in-one-timeline-with-no-weird-timey-wimey-stuff type show just to get your mind off it for a bit.

I've been having the same problems in recent months, only now it's about multi-crossover adventures instead of time-travel.

Dude, if you're really worried about it, take a breather. Even just a few days of disconnecting from Doctor Who might break the fog you're in, and god only knows that's a series and fandom that will definitely be there when you return. Seriously, it sounds kinda like you've flooded your circuitry, or done what I call a little mild self-brainwashing. Happens to me with any new thing that sucks me in - even puzzle games. My head will start thinking in terms of that puzzle and I'll even dream about it. Granted, Who fandom and time travel are worlds more complex than that, but really - just give yourself a few days' break. It'll probably clear up a bit. :)

I have the perfect solution to your problem, OP!

1. Go back in time
2. Introduce yourself to this crap when you're 7-years-old
3. Get all the OH SHIT TIMEY-WIMEY out of your system while you're 8-10
4. By the time you're a teenager, you'll already be going "Psh, time paradoxes, that's SO BABIES"

The only setback is that by current science's understanding of spacetime, it won't change the past you remember (thereby creating a stable timeloop a la Heinlein, Bradbury, et. al.), but will instead fork a new timestream from the instant you travel back in time, leaving your initial timestream completely unaltered. But at least A YOU will be able to sleep at night! :D

See, you CAN have worse than Moffat.
