Personally, I'm rolling my eyes at it* because most historians I've heard talk about that tend to agree their 'relationship' was political slander against their family.

*Not against the people who ship it, about it becoming canon.

IA, tbh.

The way it's happening in the show feels super fanservicey and it's kind of annoying me.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
The show doesn't purport to be historically correct in any other sense so I'm not bothered. Everything has been shock value and fan service from day one.

What is this?

Also, the way the guy's hair is and the position of his mouth in that picture makes him look seriously weird. Like, I thought he was some sort of monkey creature at first, and then realized he was a regular guy who looks strange in the photo.

hahaha I know who they are and I still thought he looked like a monkey

(Anonymous) 2013-04-27 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Same. I thought it was a weird adaptation of Beauty and the Beast at first!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-27 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahhahahaha me too!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-22 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Who are they?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucrezia and Cesare Borgia from The Borgias, a series on Showtime.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-22 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
What's this from? That woman is exquisitely beautiful.

The Borgias. And Lucrezia is adoooooorable.

I haven't seen the show and I was thinking the same thing. I'm almost certain this actress was in an episode of Merlin (and Being Human too)...she looks familiar.

Anyway, gorgeous girl. It seems like she's a main character so I might have to watch this.

I've only watched the first few eps of this, but I do want to continue.

Plus Cesare and Lucrezia are very pretty together.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-22 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what this show is, but even as a straight woman, I must admit, that is one PRETTY lady.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-22 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm confused - I thought the producers said in season 1 that they weren't going to go down the incest route? That they were going to play up that Lucrezia and Cesare did have an incredibly close/borderline incestuous relationship, but not go all the way. If so, I hope they don't follow the rumours/gossip that Lucrezia also had an incestuous relationship with her father.

...though I am waiting for Cesare to have syphilis. He's pretty, so it'll be fun to watch.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... in season 1. These days their attitude is much more along the lines of "this is the television event you've been waiting for" and such.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-22 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Reasons for watching a show should not be 'because it appeals to my incest kink' but damn I am getting more interested in checking this show out.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Whore reason I was reading this thread tbh. So, you're not alone.

Don't know what this is but the dude is hideous lol

I think the incesty Borgia thing is so overdone. I didn't watch the first season and started with the second instead (didn't really miss anything) and I'm mostly watching it for the gorgeous costumes, but I was hoping during season 2 that they would be one of the very few Borgia adaptions who would actually leave it at subtext. Now, I'm both annoyed at and bored by it. It's not as bad as the mostly-straight and skirt chasing DaVinci in that new series, but still - it's been done to death.

Also, I wish they would give Michelotto a slight makeover - I don't get why everyone is so historically-incorrectly groomed and clean but he always looks like a hobo...

I had to stop watching The Borgias because I really can't stand Jeremy Irons anymore after his repugnant comments, and I don't want to support anything he is in.

OP

(Anonymous) - 2013-04-23 13:01 (UTC) - Expand

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I ship it or not, but I appreciated that it was Lucretzia that seduced Cesare for once, and that he really, really wasn't into it for a while (he knew it was wrong, wrong wrong and tried to keep his desires at bay). Not to mention that they are very sweet together, and...Lucretzia and Cesare both just looked so...relieved to have someone who knows who and what they are and what they've done still love them despite everything.

I do, however, hate-ship Katharina Sfortza and Cesare, if for no other reason than their serious D/s thing is basically the hottest thing ever. Ahem.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't even watch this season, because it makes me so sad what they're doing to Alfonso/Lucrezia. I was really looking forward to see their relationship being portrayed right on screen for a change. Now they're apparently making him a drunk who hits her or something like that? Meeeeh. From everything we know about them today, those two really loved each other and she was devastated when he died, so yeah.

Guess I shouldn't have trusted them when they said they wouldn't go the incest-route. Which was the only reason I started watching this show (not because it squicks me out, but because I'm tired of it in Borgia related stuff.)

Kind of funny that they always go the incest route between Cesare and Lucrezia, though... and not Lucrezia and her father, too (which was part of the slander). Guess it's not ~*sexy*~ enough or something.
