You know, the picture you posted isn't photorealistic -- or even plain ol' regular realistic, but it's also a perfectly valid form of stylized art. Just because it's not to your standards, doesn't mean other people aren't happy with it.

This. I'd be pefectly content with that.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Are you people drunk? It looks like they spent 2 minutes on it. I'd feel insulted.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
It's way more and way better than I could do in two minutes. But you go on being ungrateful if it makes you feel more talented.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I will, thanks!

Nth to your first sentence. I can look at the picture OP posted, and while I can tell it's not 'great', it's also far enough beyond my capacities that I'm jealous the artist was capable of producing it.

Oh, for goodness' sake. I can't draw for toffee and even I can see that that is BAD art. It has nothing to do with one's own talent, and everything to do with having eyes.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Seconding this. The only talent is them doing it with a mouse; I think most people could sketch that shit by hand in ten minutes tops.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't. My artistic abilities end at stick figures.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah but you're not offering your art, right?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Stop coddling people, bad art is not a style in the same way badly cooked eggs is not an omelette or a block of text with bad spelling and sentence structure is a good story. Telling people their bad art is just a style is the best way to make them content with the level of skill they're at and gives them the excuse to ignore any constructive criticism because "that's just their style of art there's nothing wrong with it."

I'm been through this myself (if I could go back in time I would tell myself to take an anatomy class if I wanted to be a better artist and no bad anime is not a style because good anime is based off real anatomy and guess what part little me is missing because I didn't care I was doing fine teaching myself and having no one tell me what I was doing wrong) and I've seen other people do it too, stop handling people with kid gloves and telling them everything they shit out is good.

You want to help artists and make them feel better? Tell them how to improve. Tell them it's better then what you can do and if they keep going they'll be amazing. Don't tell them their bad art is a style.

Not everybody is you. Not everybody wants the same thing out of their art as you.
