Fuck yes. The manga isn't THE BEST THING EVER, but it's much, much better than the anime.

And Himaruya's art doesn't make me want to barf, unlike the art in seasons 1-4 of the anime (season 5 is a huge improvement, though).

Where is this magical collection of entirely translated, no dead links strips? The most I've been able to read have been on the Livejournal community, and even there many fall victim to exceeded bandwidth.

Yeah, you're full of it. Most of the anime episodes are almost exactly the same as the strips they're derived from; that makes it pretty boring to watch and read both.

The first anime is a steaming pile of shit, but w/e if people just want to watch it. That being said, if you've just watched the dub, I'm not going to 'judge you', but I probably won't be interested in your fannish endeavors because if your perception of the characters comes from the dub holy shit it's going to be so different from mine.

I didn't really know there were people in fandom who only watched the anime though.

On the latter part, I don't really mind if people try watching the anime, don't like it, and decide they're not a fan of the series. It's no skin off my back. And yeah it's better than going to SA or encyclopedia dramatica or something.

I wouldn't say I judge people, but I do think the anime isn't a good adaptation of the strips. It leaves a lot out, and skews things in some rather different directions. The art in the first four seasons is terrible, and while the art is a lot better in the fifth season, other things aren't.

And like iggy above, if someone has only seen the dub, I'm very unlikely to be interested in their fanworks. The dub changed the characterization way too much.
