Looks like there is glorious drama happening in the SPN fandom. Specifically about Jensen Ackles banning con questions about shipping and destiel.

From what I am seeing on my dash (I don't follow as many SPN Tumblrs as I used to), a bisexual fan's first question was about 'the subtext in the show hinting to Dean's bisexuality'. She was boo'd and Jensen said something along the lines of 'This is gonna be the first question? Don't ruin this for everyone else.'

Of course this is just hearsay, so until a video surfaces we can't be 100% what or how he said it.

While I can understand not wanting specific questions about a pairing, banning questions about a character's sexuality is not so understandable.

Or worse, for some fans to confuse Castiel and Dean for Misha and Jensen and want them to make out on stage. Thta's creepy.

I don't know, because Tumblr annoys me and no one seems to be talking about my fandoms anywhere else.

Maybe there's no drama at all in any of my current fandoms. That would be sweet.

There's always some kind of ship and character bashing going on in mine. Especially on a kink meme where a prompt writer has the audacity to include 'no (character/ship)' in their prompt. The fans take it as a personal insult way too often.

My fandom seems to alternate between weight-bashing Mariska Hargitay and speculating about her sexuality/the state of her marriage. Either way I'm nhft.

The only drama the Predator/AVP fandom seems to be sucking in is art theft, mostly because it attracts "fans" who treat the fandom like a fad and apparently have no scruples of using other people's fanart for their own gain. Thankfully it seems to have died down, but there is a mention or two now and then on the fandom board of the Predator forum I run.

Whether or not the writers are going to 'de-gay' a character, and everyone is freaking the fuck out. Which is entirely understandable and I definitely DON'T want it to happen because it would be horrible but from a shallow shipping standpoint I wish the character had been bi from the beginning instead of gay because I see so much chemistry between them and their opposite sex best friend and I feel insanely guilty about that.

And then there are the teenage girls who unabashedly want them to turn the gay character straight and keep bugging the writers and actors about it on Twitter and yeah.

I don't know what drama's been spinning lately tbh. I've been out of it for a while. Other than Paranatural people preemptively flipping out on other fans for being too fandomy (and that's mostly just the /co/ section tbh. idgaf about the forums.). The self policing is a bit annoying?


Also, good on that Ackles guy. I was at Calgary Comic Expo last weekend, and Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard had annoying shipper people in the audience asking stupid questions. GDI.

Everything's been pretty low-key in the Touhou fandom lately, although considering the latest game installment is later this month, that may change...

Most are pretty chill right now, mad speculation about upcoming games (LttP2 for Zelda, XY for Pokemon) aside.

Doctor Who, however, is... sort of holding its breath about the upcoming finale? That's the feeling I'm getting. Everyone's holding their breath, waiting to see what Moffat will do NOW.

Oh god, can you imagine next week? The amount of secrets about this SPN event are going to *skyrocket*.

A large part of me hopes Cas just puts them all in one post so we can skip it if we're sick of hearing about it. But it will probably be spread out, and there will probably be a lot of groaners.

Any wagers on amount of trolls related to it? Shall we start a pool?

Well... the latest trailer was just a huge teased that revealed nothing about the game, so we're all just sitting around with blue balls/clits until the next one comes out later this month.

Any Pokemon after gen 1 isn't a real pokemon

Yeah yeah people have been saying that since gen 2. We get it, we've totally NEVER heard someone complain and complain and complain over new generations before.
Then why are you EVEN ON the Pokemon b/w, x/y forums if you don't like them

jfc you people are dumb. Your opinons do not matter, the new games have been made so they're clearly doing quite well contrary to what you want!

Jeeze I don't like all the generations either, but I'm not going to go around bitching that the ones I don't like aren't real pokemon.

The Power Rangers fans on tumblr and a few forums are being a bunch of whiny buggers like usual.

There was also an incident where someone couldn't take a harmless joke poking fun at Saban being a cheapskate and complained and made a fuss to the point of driving an online friend of mine to leave the fandom. (Whether or not he comes back I don't know. :() So yeah.

Zombies, Run! has a blank slate protagonist, Runner 5, who is specifically written to be gender neutral and featureless (and since it's an audio-based game, they can pull this off quite well with everyone just talking to Runner 5).

Some dude typed off this rant about how everyone in the fandom was writing 5 as female, so all the writers must be missing the point of the game or too stupid to make up their own characters, and why do you need female protagonists anyway, the game's got plenty of women in it? It's a small fandom, so the Tumblr tag was full of some very eloquent smack-downs.
