Well uh. Remus isn't gay. He fell in love with and married a woman. Bi or pan? Maybe. But not gay.

Right. Because no gay man ever did that.

Lol.

No, a gay man has never fallen in love with and married a woman. Straight and bi men, yes.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Are you serious? Of course gay men have done this. Samuel R. Delany's one real life example that leaps to mind.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
I know a gay man IRL who did this, the other well known example in Britain would be Tom Robinson, who had a hit with "Sing if you're glad to be gay". Then a few years later met and fell in love with a woman, married and had kids.

Of course I'm seriously. They mislabeled themselves and were bi all along.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean of course I'm serious.

Not to get terribly off topic here, but didn't the actor who plays Remus and the director of... the third one maybe?... think Remus was gay? Like, directed the actor to play him as such?

I might be misremembering something but I don't think so.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Then maybe we're both misremembering the same thing. Vaguely recall reading that Thewlis said *something* about Sirius and Remus' relationship in the third film, though whether he or the director of PoA genuinely believed Remus was gay is another matter.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
The director called him a gay uncle.

ayrt

I ship Remus / Tonks like fuck. I am an avowed Remus/Tonks shipper. So it's not like I'm forgetting about that. That said, you're probably right, Remus would be bi or pan and not gay. I'm more just trying to point out that the interpretation under which Remus is into dudes is a valid one reading from the text. I probably should have been more clear. You're right.
