(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)Or is it s false mindset? Is it really that much more immature to escape into a video fantasy world than and paper one?

My actual gamer guy friends/exes all enjoyed gaming enough that they didn't mind watching me play (and I never minded watching them play), and my current boyfriend just gets bored until I feel bad and put on a movie or something, so it kind of sucks that my playing is now limited to when he's not home, but I'm really glad he went out of his way to get some games that we could both enjoy.

Re: Guy Gamers
(Anonymous) 2013-06-07 12:58 am (UTC)(link)I think the difference is twofold: identification and breadth of interests. Men who identify as "gamers" and who lack interests outside of gaming tend to be as you've described. Men who do not identify that way and who consider gaming to be one of many interests or an occasional leisure activity tend not to be. This obviously will not follow in every case; it's only a trend that I've noticed.
