20 - As one diehard Zack lover to another: oh GOD I know just what you mean. ;_; But it's like a car wreck -- I can't help watching it and looking at the pictures over and over and over again, because even though he died he died defending what he cared about, and THAT just means so much to me, that he poured his all into getting them back. There's so much I want to do with screencaps as far as iconning and banner-making go, but I get all choked up every time I look at them, and gaaaaah.

28 - "IC (except for sexuality)"? Listen, hon -- until a character comes right out and says flat-out that they're completely straight or completely gay, they have no canon sexuality. Period. Assuming that everyone's straight is just as bad as assuming everyone's gay.

Anyway, let me just say: Tifa x Aeris for the fuckin' WIN. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. And I totally agree on the equal relationship thing, too -- I've been a fan of some pairings where there are 'ship wars over who tops, and I despise it. THEY SWITCH, DUH.

As for the Sephiroth x Genesis thing... yeah, I can definitely see it. Of course, though, I've always loved rivalslash, so... (Actually, my brain is far more inclined to add in Angeal for a nice little ménage à trois than to ship the two of them alone; it'd help keep the sparks between the other two from blazing up out of control, you know? Angeal may not have the prettyboy beauty of the other two, but he's got these rugged good looks that are very nice indeed.)

20. I was amazed they bothered with blood, but I still sat there the whole time thinking NO, GUNSHOTS DON'T WORK THAT WAY. No surprise from me, but I felt all the flourishes of noble, honorable Zack handing off the sword lol was so much less dramatic than the quick, unexpected, so much more violent death in the original game.

Zack didn't expect to die, he didn't want to die, and anyone that full of life shouldn't so peacefully pass away. He was running, fighting, winning, then dead. The starkness of it all was what gave it such drama in the first place.

Also wtf the whole point is Cloud is fucked in the head, that's why he took his sword.

20 Yes, you just summed up my feelings on the matter. Zack's death was great because it wasn't noble - he could have better served Cloud by living. Zack's death was totally brutal. He just ended up getting filled with bullets for a while. That was so crushing to me, in the original, and I wish they'd kept it as painful as the original.

Then again, given how much even this version makes me sad, it's probably a good thing I didn't have to watch a prettier version of the scene from the original game.
