Anyone else sitting back and watching the wreckage of Wolfstar thanks to Pottermore's most recent update concerning Remus Lupin?

I feel no sympathy for the louder, whinier shippers, not after one of the apparent ringleaders called JRK a "queer eraser" and is writing her a stern letter on the matter.

Oh, Harry Potter shipping fandom, never change.

It's almost difficult for me to believe that people are still passionate enough about HP shipping to get really crazy and wanky and whiny about it

Fleshing out Lupin's back story, mainly focusing on his parents, his lycanthrope affliction during childhood, and his love with Tonks.

The Wolfstar shippers are up in arms over a small tidbit that said prior to Tonks, Lupin had never fallen in love before. Which is where all the sweet, sweet slashy tears come from.

Hmm what update was this? Wolfstar is my HP OTP but I haven't been active in the fandom for a while.

It just went down today, a Pottermore update to celebrate JKR and Harry's birthdays.

I haven't seen the update, but I'm always pro Lupin/Tonks, so I am pro-this. Might have to bother with all the pottermore stuff again and figuring out my login and all that.

It's got a lot of cute stuff for Tonks and Remus. I never really liked the ship in canon, it felt forced, but seeing it this way made me really appreciate them.

Is Wolfstar Remus/Sirius? Is the pairing name a new thing? Back in my day we called it Remus/Sirius and laughed at the Hamonians and their pretentious ship name. *feels old*

Yeah. I've never called it Wolfstar...

It's been called Wolfstar for years, at least since the second or third Remus/Sirius shipper thread at fictionalley park.

Has this been posted anywhere for those of us who don't really do pottermore but still love backstory?

(I'm googling too so I may comment again with the link if I find it.)

It might be on the HP Wiki by now, God knows how long the people in England have had the info before us in the US.

No kidding, eh? I've been reading the tag for a bit out of curiosity and so many of them are under the impression that, even if there was no romance, Remus and Sirius shared this special bond and I'm sitting here like "wtf? That was James and Sirius".

If Sirius was bi and in love with any of his friends it was def James.

I never really shipped it, but I didn't mind it. It's such pervasive fanon. If Remus and Sirius are in a fic and are not shagging the main character of said fic, they are likely shagging each other. (And sometimes they are shagging other characters AND each other.)

I track the tag and I'm wincing.

I think I'm more annoyed by the fact JKR basically made Tonks Remus's Manic Pixie Dream Girl and stuck to her usual 'everyone has only ONE TRUE LOVE' bullshit than anything else. Not really surprised, though. Just annoyed.

And so what if it's not canon. I must have missed the letter that ships that weren't canon were Not Allowed In Fandom or something.

I'm laughing pretty hard at their rage. It's fun to see the same people who made fun of H/Hr shippers for being delusional act the EXACT same way. They're calling it "bad fanfiction" and shit.

I normally have sympathy for people in this sort of situation, but Woflstar's been shot down since before it started so these people really need to chill and cope with the fact that shipping non-canon is okay and that it doesn't have to resort to insulting the writer.
