I don't know anything about female characters, but doesn't fandom tend to
"leather pants" male characters more often than female characters?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the ASOIAF fandom, where women who do shitty things are 'badass HBICs' and men who do shitty things are 'disgusting monsters' (unless they're Jaime Lannister).

OH JESUS. Have you even fucking been to Westeros.org. ASOAIF fandom is pretty much the god damn opposite. I've even seen people claiming Cersei pushed Bran out of a window.

That's the Westeros.org fandom. The tumblr fandom acts as though Cersei is a flawless little princess who can do know wrong, but Tyrion is a horrible monster.

I think you've seen just one side of fandom. I've seen another side, where all the women are pretty much looked down on except for Arya. Like I could not find someone who was a fan of any other female character. Well, a couple liked Ygritte, but mostly people forgot about her.

I love Sansa and Brienne!

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
They're my faves. <3 <3

I couldn't stand Sansa to begin with but as of the last book and her character development I cannot wait to see her really get rolling.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO, you've obviously only seen the tumblr part of the fandom. You should take a stroll over westeros.org to see what the neckbeards think of the female characters of the series.

So all this proves is that both sides have double-standards.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
The evidence for that just keeps piling up, doesn't it? People are all alike, only the targets vary.
