Well "breathtakingly beautiful" is subjective but she definitely has that healthy, wholesome, radiance that is kind of the base line of universal beauty. And well they are magical creatures so wouldn't much of their appeal be in their aura~ or something especially since beauty is so subjective.

Plus IDK that it's true in this case but I distinctly get the impression most people who disliked her casting wanted a more delicate overdone western ideal beauty when I get the impression they were going for a more naturalized "corn-fed" look.

I'm not into Harry Potter at all, and I think it's a bit silly to say someone "isn't beautiful enough" when the notion of beauty varies so much from person to person -- but! You should watch Birdsong; I remember her looking very ethereal in it.

I agree. She's gorgeous but beauty is comparable and the part should have gone to someone who we could see was much more beautiful than the other girls on the cast instead of just hearing about it. It didn't help that her wardrobe and hair weren't flattering (not saying they were unflattering, just weren't flattering).

Yeah, I agree. I didn't think she was pretty enough. Surely there are prettier women who could have played her. She and Narcissa Malfoy were brutally miscast.

Have you seen her in other things? I was incredibly disappointed by whoever decided on her styling for Harry Potter, because in real life and other movies I think she is /gorgeous/.

I still can't believe that she was cast as Fleur.

She's not nearly hideous but not nearly beautiful enough to play Fleur.

She would have looked 'otherworldly' if the makeup department had not been doing its level-best to make her look completely plain. They probably blew their budget on making Hermione's hair look ridiculously well-groomed instead of the complete opposite.

I like her and I think she's beautiful, but I feel like the movies missed the mark by not giving her some magical "enhancements" via CG to really make her feel like she had Veela blood-- maybe just giving her a glow once in a while, or making her eyes an unnatural color or making her hair... sparkle, idk. My impression of Fleur was always that she was ~magical looking, more than just beautiful

I think it's much harder to cast for a character who's describes as completely gorgeous or really plain. We all get this really specific vision in our heads of how they're supposed to look and no one is ever going to measure up (unless we're the ones casting, but that's not likely). The actress who plays Fleur is very pretty, but she doesn't match how I envisioned her either.

I don't think she's particularly gorgeous, either. But I also don't think Tom Hiddleston or R-Pattz are even the slightest bit attractive, so everyone's different.

Plus, she's supposed to be a teenager? I imagine it would be pretty difficult to find some magnificently gorgeous girl who is also supposed to be, y'know, 17.
