(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)But yeah, it sucks that his actor left the show so they decided to be topical and kill him off with a texting and driving plot line. Whatever.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-24 11:17 am (UTC)(link)But wouldn't those count as character errors rather than the show's mistakes? Because it can be difficult for people less sensitive to trans* identities to remember to use the right pronoun, and the kids on Glee all tend to be kind of self-involved.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-24 03:44 am (UTC)(link)I think they were referring to the infamously terrible episode where kurt (who was basically murphy's mouthpiece for a while. maybe he still is, I'm not sure) lectured blaine about how bisexuality didn't exist and that only gay guys in denial would call themselves bi. they also had brittany call herself "a little bicurious" for the longest time, so I'm not sure when they allowed her to just be bisexual. I'm also still a little confused as to how they went from having Santana say that she got turned on by everyone (including human shaped shrubbery) to having her declare herself a lesbian in like the next episode. not saying it's impossible or anything, but it seemed kind of sudden and weird. I thought she made for a good bisexual character

Re: SPOILERS for last season of Glee.
(Anonymous) 2013-08-23 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)I dropped Glee after the first episode of season 4 (not really because of the Unique thing, but because of...everything else) so that's nice to here. I kind of assumed they wouldn't really progress with her storyline much because it's, well, Glee but I'm impressed that they did. Glee, I take back some of the horrible things I've said about you. Some of them.

It seems like omany people hated season 4, too. So it's highly subjective. I also sort of look at it from the pov of film student, and there's a few technical things I feel improved, too (like editing). I liked the whole NY thing because it took people out of that high school setting. It felt nice that there was more than just sectionals or nationals to look forward to all over again. And I do feel like the matured the "old garde" up a bit.
But as I said, it still has Glee problems. Mostly things that seem to happen for no other reason than that the plot du jour demands it.
I don't want to sucker you into watching something you might not like, but I thought it was a significant improvement over season 3 (which is my least favorite one).

And I feel like they did some things right like SPOILERS setting Marley up more like a songwriter than another Rachel clone, postponing Emma and Will's wedding for the right reasons, making Sue more human and less of a caricature, and some episodes that actually focus on friendship and not dating mayhem.
