Yea the first episode wasn't that great...I would have stopped if I didn't download in bulk... but it gets better! WAY BETTER~

11) Shia Lebouf is going to be in that movie? Maybe I have a reason to watch it now! Except maybe not because I've never watched any of the Indiana Jones movies to begin with. But SHIA! <3
16) People do need to learn how to get along with each other. Just because people get into a series a different way doesn't mean it's better to have done it a certain way. Although, it's much easier said than done. I'm like that a lot with the Pokemon and Digimon anime... ^.^;;
Ooh, Gintama-tama! I seriously need to get into that series sometime. I've been meaning to for some months now.
30) Ah-hahahahaha my friend and I were laughing about the same exact thing when we watched the first ep. just so we could joke and say we've seen some of Code Gay-ass. His name is even stupider-sounding when they say it. "Luluuchi," whut? XD

12: People like you make me afraid to try RPing either of them in a public comm. ):

27: Slightly unrelated: When I decided to try and get into DN fandom, the first thing I did was find the capslock comm. No regrets.

30: Oh lord you've just ruined Lulu for me. In a good way.

[identity profile] post-position.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
16. Fuck yeah >D! Gintama ftw, and mayo man Hiji ftw XD!

22. Okay. that's cool that you don't dig CLAMP. Um yeah I wouldn't exacty call their art boring though @.@ I think its pretty neat, and the style is now synonymous with them, so really its not so much boring as it is widely recognized IMO >.>

[identity profile] rxni.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
30. I've never seen the show either, but I always crack up when I see a picture of him because one time I saw the title of the show written as "CHODE GAYASS: LEDOUCHE OF THE FAGBELLION".

His name is pretty dumb sounding though.

I AM GETTING SO SICK OF ANOREXIA SECRETS! >:O

Seriously, they came out of nowhere a month or two ago. O_o

[identity profile] roko-epsilon.livejournal.com 2007-10-09 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
4. I would do exactly the same if I felt like carrying my laptop for the half-hour walks it takes to get to my classes.

22. Their actual art style is rather boring at times, yes. Especially in the olden days of Magic Knight Rayearth. They TRY TO MAKE UP FOR IT with DETAILS though, which I rather enjoy. Also, the panel formatting for Clover sometimes got very interesting.

35. Aww. TELL HER come oooooon.

35 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-10-09 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't a clue how I would go about such a thing, except to come right out in some real-time format. And I'm terrified that she secretly is just humoring me and would freak out at me wanting to be more than just fellow writers. And then I'd lose the privilege of talking to her completely.

30. Poor Lulu he gets so abused in fandom. XD I do admit it's funny though.

32. I totally agree he's adorable in the homicidal type way. :D

11. Well, I'm happy. I think it's going to kick ass.

14. Dude! Reading about how great they are and how much people ship them is the ONLY thing that keeps making me want to watch! I'm so curious!!! But I haven't watched any yet. Only UK.

I've watched two episodes of the new season, and I ship them so hard. They are just too cute! Plus, they kinda remind me of a friend of mine and myself...:)

19. I had the same problem. I used to hate it because of all the people on 4chan being retarded over it and completely misrepresenting it. One day I sat down and actually watched a few episodes and I found it completely adorable and I plan on watching the rest. Oh well. I like Kagami the best...

10 - AAAAH OMG I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK. I thought I was the only one. And I have to say that the drawing of Ugly Tally looks just like I imagined her. She's marvellous.

Because, uh, they need to hear it again. And again. Yeah.

I do something similar, but instead of sitting in the back and reading fanfiction, I sit wherever and write it

I'll be all like pretending to take notes when it's actually my lastest fic. I've even had a teacher or two say how impressed they were with the amount of notes that I took. If only they knew ^_^

It's not just the internet that is like that. Sadly RL is too.

I have slowly and sadly come to the realization over the past few months that several of my geeky RL friends are very much like you describe. They are allowed to squee and sparkle over their fandoms but as soon as I do so over mine they laugh at me. If it happens in their fandom it's cool (or at the very least it's 'crack') - if something happens in my fandoms it's not. The only way to be cool with them is to pretend you don't care.

My advice - KEEP being enthusiastic. KEEP being fannish. Cynicism is such an exhausting emotion - sure you get a temporary charge out of being "clever" but then you have to go back to being miserable. Being happy and enthusiastic is much more uplifting.

Keep looking around. The Internet (and the Real World) is a big place. Stay away from 4chan if you don't like their attitude. You (like I) will eventually find people who like the fact that you are a positive person and will support you. It may be a long search but trust me it's worth it.

I have to say I agree, but it's pretty simple work staying away from 4chan if you don't like the attitude. There's only a minority that will go out of their way to bully, pester or insult somebody outside of the board and these people are idiots. I personally find enthusiasm very endearing as long as as the object of enthusiasm isn't being shoved down my throat, whether it coincides with my interests or not. It's really...refreshing to know in this age of cynicism, lethargy and bitterness that there's people out there who are positive and into the things they're excited about, and don't feel the need to act aloof to look cool.

I am in total agreement with you there. There is an appropriate time and place for being fannish.

I think people often confuse enthusiasm with immaturity or childishness, which just isn't the case. You can have a child-like sense of enthusiasm, imagination, and joy in life without acting childish (ie. shirking responsibility, throwing temper tantrums, etc).

It's sad that there aren't more people that act that way, since, in essence, you are combining the best parts of childhood and adulthood.
