Eh, I've always been a Gilmour fan meself. I laughed so hard yesterday when fans posted songs Waters had nothing to do with and it was to celebrate his 70th birthday.

It is black with bone-colored tusks and has a bunch of graffiti and pictures over it, like crossed hammers, a clam of sorts, "What's wrong with people?", the Star of David, "Everything will be okay, just keep consuming", "you better [truncated]".]

I can no longer listen to any Pink Floyd song without remembering this disgusting thing. Thanks a lot, Waters.

I believe it's an inflatable pig, along the lines of the one floating above Battersea Power Station on the cover of Pink Floyd's 1977 album "Animals".

Previous anon is correct about it being an inflatable pig and that it's from the Animals album. The style of the text is copied from the album The Wall and the marching hammers in the circle are from The Wall, too.

Also the truncated quote: "You better run" is from the classic The Wall album. (I can't say or read that without hearing the scream of the original in my head. Great stuff.)

Best song on that entire album! There's a live version where Gilmour's voice breaks and it gives me chills every time I hear it.

The pig is covered in political slogans and symbols of oppression, one of which is a Star of David, I'm pretty certain that's what the OP is disgusted by.

I don't think most of those are actual political slogans? And I've never seen the crossed hammers before, either. I can see how OP would object to the inclusion of the Star of David, though.

It certainly makes more sense than my previous theory that OP just thought the inflatable pig was gross in and of itself.

Pink Floyd, and Roger Waters solo, commonly use inflatable pigs in their shows. This one is from a Roger Waters concert earlier this year. He included a Star of David among the symbols of oppression (like the Shell logo, the swastika-like and definitely facist within the context of The Wall crossed hammers insignia). His stated reason was to protest the actions of Israel in Palestine. But, as the Star of David is a symbol of Judaism as a whole, not just Israel, that's not the message he ended up sending (I don't know enough about the man to know whether he's an anti-semite or not, but it was a ham-handed choice, in any case).

Personally(and this is the first time I've seen this particular piggy, and I know YMMV and all.) I read the Star Of David to be a symbol of the oppressed, not oppression. Especially since it's right below "What's wrong with people?"

But that's just one interpretation.

Waters isn't Pink Floyd. The Wall was the main reason they kicked him out, actually. It's why he tours playing most of it and nothing else. And it's all changed to fit his socioplotical beliefs of the moment since his stories about his childhood have been proven to be nothing but lies.

But when Pink Floyd was still performing together, even as late as Live Aid in 2008 right before Rick Wright died, they played the songs from it that Waters didn't own and they're the songs most people associate with The Wall, anyway.

I'm not sure what the other anon is talking about, unless it's in reference to The Wall not being strictly autobiographical. But Waters never claimed it was. Parts of it are, his father being killed in the WWII for instance, but he's never claimed the entire story was directly lifted from his life.

Waters was never kicked out of Pink Floyd, Rick Wright was forced by Waters to resign during the recording of The Wall album because according to Waters he wasn't pulling his weight (it was rumored that Wright was doing a lot of coke at the time.). The keyboard parts in the Wall are largely by session musicians.

Wright was then put on as a salaried musician for the stage shows but never reinstated as a full member of the band under Waters, it's why Wright's name doesn't appear in the credits of "The Final Cut."

Pink Floyd "ended" after that because Waters said it was over; it's why he and Gilmour had such a nasty public feud back in the 80's when "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" was released under the "Pink Floyd" name.

They used the wrong symbol but I so, so, so agree with them. The Israeli government needs to stop persecuting the Palestinians. They are not in the right on this matter. They never were.

But, also, please don't think for a second that I side with Hamas or any of the sicko terrorist groups. If it's between them and Israel then I will side with Israel in a heartbeat. They do a lot of foul things but recruiting the easily-molded to kill themselves (not just to risk death but to commit actual suicide) and to do so while also targeting and murdering civilians is unforgivable.

TL;DR: The Israeli Gov't is shit but at least they're not Hamas.
