Yeah, calling troll. Good one, you really had us going there.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Not a troll, sorry. If you cannot afford your own apartment, you don't get your own apartment, and I don't care what the excuse is. Same goes for cars, pets, expensive food, et fucking cetera. You can make due on limited income by cutting luxuries just like the rest of us.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, sorry. Only a troll or an idiot would say "tough shit" to the disabled.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
OK, so who is supposed to pay this disabled person's rent or mortgage? What kind of accomodations do they deserve? A one bedroom or a loft? A 3 bedroom with a pool? What? If they are on disability sharing an apartment can get a better deal.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
If you cannot work due to a disability, that's what SSI insurance is for. And depending on the disability (especially in the case of certain mental illnesses), sharing an apartment may not be an option.

Not only that, but you're talking like roommates who won't screw you over are easy to find. They really aren't. Taking on a roommate is a hell of a risk, legally, financially, and safety-wise depending on the crowd they run with (and if you're broke, you wouldn't be able to afford being all that picky). You may very well end up worse off.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, nobody said you would end up with good roommates. Most roomates are pieces of shit. But guess what? That's a chance you have to take when you cannot afford to live on your own.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
So, having a roommate who pushed drugs and raped me was the more noble option because at least I didn't ask anyone for money, lol!

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That sucks for you, but guess what? You still needed a roommate. Because you could not afford to live on your own, because private living is a luxury. Nobody gets roommates because "oh hey I could do with less space and privacy, and the risk of someone hurting me." They get them because they can't afford to live on their own.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're admitting that asking for money so I wouldn't have had to get a roommate would've been bad, but getting raped by the roommate I had to get was some kind of necessity.

Please, go fall off a cliff.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you have your anons confused, douchebag. I haven't been involved in the argument about asking for money; I'm simply saying living alone is a luxury, one many people can't afford. If you cannot comprehend that because you're so convinced my message is secretly "lol you deserved it you filthy poor person," then please do us all a favor and go whine somewhere else.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
When your other choice is "getting raped or killed by a crazy drug-addicted roommate," it's not a luxury, dumbass. I can't believe that concept is so hard for you to get.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
When your other choice

Bam. Right. Fucking. There. If you have other choices, you don't have only one option. Living in a bad neighborhood still doesn't mean there aren't roommates who won't kill you. Living in a good neighborhood doesn't mean your roommates won't kill you. That's what happens when you live with strangers, and it is a risk everyone takes.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
When your other "option" is likely to get you killed, it shouldn't be considered an option. Or do you think victims threatened with death aren't actually victims because hey, they could've chosen to die, right?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Stop being melodramatic. I'm still waiting on those statistics that say everyone in your town who rooms with anyone is murdered.

There are options. You have specific requirements for your option. Only one of several options meets your requirements, but the other options were there. Thus, you chose that one option, because you had the ability to choose that one option.

It's not anybody's problem but your own that your requirements eliminated so many options. Don't act like you were forced to make that decision.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm not giving them to you because I'm not telling some anon rape apologist where I live.

Options that can get you killed aren't viable options. Believing otherwise makes you a victim-blaming shithead. But hey, if you're fine with that...

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not giving them to me because they don't exist. Just like rape apologies don't exist in any of my comments.

Options that can get you killed are viable options, judging by the fact people choose them. There's a difference between risk and certainty, and you're obviously conflating the two. No one chooses to be a murder victim. Many people choose situations that put them at risk of murder, however, because that's how being an adult works. Safety is not a guarantee.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, you like being known as a sociopath and crime apologist, it seems. Nothing further to say here other than "fuck off."

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a crime apologist, but whatever helps you sleep at night. Have a good day then.

DA

The problem with your argument is that it operates under the assumption that having roommate is a guarantee you'll have a cheaper place to live, and that's really not the case. When you have a roommate who doesn't pay their bills (and all of my roommates except one have been like that), you're still living by yourself financially. You're just paying double the price and not getting the benefit of privacy.

I can't believe this thread escalated so hilariously. Please never stop?

Because rape victims are hilarious, right?

This particular 'victim' is an insult to rape victims.
