(frozen comment) If you actually need to ask "is this 'whatever'phobic?" the answer is always yes.

Transphobic to demand a warning, but reasonable to ask for an AU tag that one character is trans. its a subtle difference but it is still there.

Hey, if you think trans needs a warning, why did you not ask that this get a F!S warning label and go in the warning section? You know it is because you'd be flame roasted over that.

If there was a series that had mostly homosexual pairings, and then someone snuck in a genderbent het sex scene, wouldn't you want that to be warned for?

Nope. I'd be avoiding it on principal because I'd be sick of all the shipping of any sort. Also nice try at equating erasure of unrepresented sexualities with the poor oppressed hets. I would like a fic where there was no shipping tagged so I could read that though.

Two things. My point was that even heterosexual sex should be tagged if it's a surprise. Second, it's not erasure to not be sexually turned on by a trans* person. If you are looking for smut, whose purpose is to get you off, of two men and one has a vagina-then sorry, it's not transphobic to be turned off.

Genderbending and trans*fic are not the same thing. For me this goes back to the issue of "warning" vs "contains/tagging". In both cases, I'd like to KNOW but I don't need to be warned like it would offend my sensibilities that someone would DARE write that.

If...a character is not trans* in canon, then it is exactly the same. Gendering bending and trans* would have the same outcome. Gender bending a slash pairing=a penis and a vagina. A trans* male without surgery=A penis and a vagina.

'If you actually need to ask "is this 'whatever'phobic?" the answer is always yes.'

Nope.

'I'm not sexually attracted to men with vaginas/women with penises, am I transphobic?' I've heard this one a lot, and the answer would be a resounding nope, not unless there's more to it than that.

A hard this. Would you stop being someone's friend/family member if they were trans*? Then you're transphobic. Are you transphobic if you aren't physically turned on by someone with a certain type of genitalia No. Not even close.

It always annoys me when people say "it shouldn't matter!". But these things DO matter when it comes to sex. And at the end of the day, a trans* pre-operation still has the bits of the gender they were born with, and this should never be a surprise to someone you are going to be having sex with.

Yeah it shouldn't matter that you aren't turned on by black people, but you aren't and so need a warning for black people passing as white (and yeah, sadly that was a thing back in the day with very pale colored folks deciding to pretend they were white and some getting bashed for it if a partner discovered the person they were sleeping with wasn't pure). The same justification you just used over the transfolks was used almost word for word for pale-passing coloreds and why they should disclose themselves.

Yeah it doesn't matter about gay or transguys, and if you have a problem about it, then you are phobic and have a problem. Seek help until it no longer matters.

Someone being a certain race=/=someone wants to be the gender they weren't born with. It's not phobic to not want to sleep with a guy who has a vagina. Because that trans* man is a woman when it comes to sex, because all of his bits are female.

Yeah, you kinda are a bit. You are reducing a person to their genitals and worse, reducing the other person to how your cheese ridden genitalia reacts to their genitals. That is several different kinds of degrading and one of those kinds is transphobia.

If a gay man says "I am not attracted to women," is he degrading them?

Nice strawman, try again.

No strawman I see here, I only see exactly what you said.

LOl. You're trans* and someone refused to sleep with you, right? Sorry hun, but if all that person did was not want to sleep with you, they aren't transphobic. Maybe you should look at your own insecurities before you try to shame someone for turning you down. No one owes you sex just because you're trans*

(frozen comment) Re: If you actually need to ask "is this 'whatever'phobic?" the answer is always yes.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-26 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to say, but sex does come down to genitals. I'm sorry it makes you butthurt that a man may not want to sleep with a man that also has a vagina, but that's how it is. And if you want to believe that's 'transphobic', then well, that trans* person can just go find someone else to sleep with and get over it.

"cheese ridden genitalia"

Careful, you're in "trying too hard" territory again.
