You're in the wrong fandom spaces. Most people hate this pairing or at least partially squicked.

Yeah, when I was getting into Calmp several years ago and thinking about checking out CCS, this pairing was one of the first things I was warned about. (Actually, just when I started getting curious about Clamp in general.)

While i'm sure there are people who defend it, I've never come across them.

Yeah, I've run across (misguided) people who will defend the Tsubasa clones and the end of XXXholic, but I have never seen anyone defend this pairing.

When I was a kid reading CCS I thought that was a cute pairing and believed that as long as they waited until she grew up there was nothing wrong with it. Some years later I revisited the series and all I could think was WHAT THE FUCK

Same, which I think is exactly why it's squicky. Kids just don't understand what that really means, and to be frank, I highly doubt her feelings would last. Their personalities and interests and values are still developing in large ways.

I always thought this was really gross. It never seemed cute. It always seemed wrong to me.

Then I felt like a hypocrite when I shipped Yasha x Ashura like burning (but only when Ashura's grown up. Surely not as bad, right?)

haha I couldn't get into yashaxashura for most of the series for this very reason (my friend took one look at their sleeping scene and told me it was pedophilia), but i like grown-up ashura and yasha, yes.

This pairing squicks me out. She's so damn young.... it's just a large no.

CLAMP and pairing teachers and students has always made me side-eye them a bit. Touya/Kaho as well were a couple and Eriol/Kaho (yes I know his age is up for question, but he's still in a kids body. Girl likes them young.) in CCS.

While I'd usually agree, and at least in online spaces I totally agree with you, in RL I have met a lot of people who call that pairing "sweet" and "beautiful" and even "a great role model for kids".

The main characters are 10-12 during the series. Which is why I have my doubts, not only about this ship, but also other ships in the series, like Syaoran and Sakura. They're just way too going for me to believe that they even understand love yet.

Oh man, yeah. I remember the first time I read the manga, and I got pretty squeaked out at the thought of "elementary school teacher dating one of his students" shticks. It got worse right at the end, where Sakura is trying to figure out her feelings for Syaoran, and finds Rika and they have a discussion about how her family doesn't approve of her relationship (iirc nobody knew who she was dating). And all those times Rika gets called mature during the series like trying to drive the point home like... No CLAMP, no.

tl;dr: I agree.

When I came to that part, I was like 'Fuck this' and put the series down. It signaled the decline in my manga readership because shit like that enrages me. CLAMP still has a place in my heart but yeah, no.

Well it is squicky and... pretty damn creepy. People act like it's not?? It's a great series otherwise, but there is simply no way a relationship between a schoolteacher and their ten year old students could EVER be healthy.
