Hey, you like what you like.

I saw the movies and had the same problems you mentioned (Edward and Bella being too bland and etc), and found myself caring more about the classmates.

RPatz loves being called RPatz. Ha ha he jumped dug his own grave with this movie. Guilty pleasures are all fine. Because you don't have to justify them to anyone.

I really love the movies tbh. Especially because they're not from a first person pov, and we don't have to hear Bella's thoughts or lack thereof.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-13 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Both the book and movie sucked lbr.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-13 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
The movies have at least three big advantages over the books:

1) Gorgeous scenery.

2) None of Bella's boring internal monologue.

3) Michael Sheen.

I still haven't managed to watch an entire movie in the series myself: I've fallen asleep early on or found myself doing other stuff, like house chores. But enjoy them as you like anon, it's a good thing that people like different stuff.

i watched all of those movies. hell, i paid to watch them all in the cinema, so there you have it.

they're terrible, but weirdly entertaining. plus i wanted to see this trainwreck all the the way to the end.

I love how terrible these movies are. The books are just the boring kind of bad. The movies are so bad they're hilarious. I love watching them with friends and just laughing my ass off about the bad writing and the worse acting all the time. It's a pretty good way to cheer yourself up when you're feeling down.

I've seen all the moives. The last ones I liked the best as they seemed to stop caring and they got more tongue-in-cheek.

The fact that RPatz seemed to hate his life while promoting the movies always made me laugh.

Rock your lazy weekend, anon!

But why does RPatz hate his life?

RPatz hating his life is what makes this all so entertaining. It is kind of interesting when an actor basically tells the press that he thinks the woman who wrote those books is a bit(read: very) craycray. Same goes for the director and staff people.

I mean, I thought the first movie was pretty bad but I still had a lot of fun watching it. Not so much with New Moon and I didn't bother with the rest.

Poor RPatz. His life is so hard.

I ended up seeing the movies because of my roommate. I kinda liked the first one. Then found 2-4a boring. I enjoyed the last one, mostly because of 1)Lee Pace and 2)the final battle scene.

The movies have a hint of a piss-take feel to them, they're far preferable to the books IMO.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-13 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I watched the first because some friends wanted to lol together at it (we'd all read the books and hated them), the second because it was filmed in my area, and I haven't gotten around to the others. Maybe when I'm really bored, because it might be amusing to see the movie version of what I read. Especially the baby in breaking Dawn...

No, that's me! I LOVE those movies. They are so bad, they are amazing.

I love the movies!

[personal profile] chardmonster 2013-10-14 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I love the movies! I mean, they're terrible, but they're terrible in a fun way. One of the best movie experiences I've ever had was watching the second movie with screaming fourteen year olds behind me. My issue with Twilight fans is glorifying horrible relationship dynamics, not liking fun.

My only beef with these crunchy films is the lack of Leah, or even a mention of Leach chewing out Bella :(

Otherwise, watching them with my sister is one of my favourite things. (also Dakota Fanning ♥ shhh)

Oh, yeah, there's many reasons why I was able to watch all the movies with glee (for one, Stewart is so hot) and yet I was frothing with rage halfway through the New Moon book and gave up on the rest.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-14 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't and have no wish to read the books, but I watched the second movie with a bunch of friends while studying abroad, drunk and with Arabic subtitles. I have to say...I rather enjoyed yelling at Bella about ignoring Jacob and making snide comments in Arabic (weren't allowed to speak English). I honestly found it to be a reasonably compelling storyline, but was extremely unhappy that it ended with Bella and Edward getting back together. But I totally feel you on the "I want something that doesn't require much thought and has cool supernatural concepts - I will watch you, Twilight!"

(Anonymous) 2013-10-14 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the movies! As someone said above, the cinematography is gorgeous and there's a sense of humor that the books often lack. One of my favorite moments is when Edward and Bella first walk into school *together* knowing that everyone is gawking at them. Edward's shit-eating grin kills me--it just screams "I'm a 108-year virgin and I FINALLY have a girlfriend!" And the battle scenes are fun--I love the one in Eclipse when the wolves come roaring out of nowhere. It's like Narnia! And the last battle scene--that twist!--everyone in the theater when I saw it cheered when the twist was revealed. The movies are great.

I think the movies are way better than the books.

I maintain that KStew can act, Bella is just a badly written character.
