I feel like a good chuck of fandom over-focuses on shipping and leave the other parts a bit neglected.

This pairing is creepy as fuck (plus it makes no sense). I usually love pairings with a huge age diference, but in this case I don't know why, but a guy in his thirties fucking a 15 years old boy is too much for me.

Eren/Levi is pretty much the only pairing in SNK I really hate, and of course it has to be the fandom juggernaut.

I actually kind of like Levi/Mikasa (I'd prefer it if Mikasa was aged up a bit), but, yeah, I can't really see Levi having romantic feelings for Eren, and Eren is just one of those characters who is sort of unshippable for me. I'm not really that into Eren/Mikasa or Eren/Armin either. I just don't see him being romantically compatible with anyone in the series.

I'm almost tempted to give this fandom a pass on its weird ships. The series itself is so grim and depressing and most of these ships will probably be sunk when the people in them die horribly, so y'know what? Fucking ship away.

Especially since I'll place serious money on Levi dying before the series ends. Bye bye, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Most of what I know about this show is from Tumblr as I've only managed to watch four episodes so far, but I still dislike this pairing for some reason I can't define.

Everyone who ships Levi/Eren doesn't think any of the other characters are pretty? Other ships have no pretty fanart? (Which is definitely not true. So many talented artists!)

I kinda ship Levi/Eren in a weird sort of way. As in, I like hurt/comfort stuff more than fucking and man it's hard finding good fics and doujinshis there, let me tell you -.- ... and it's not because I think they're the prettiest? They're also not my sole focus, because I'm mainly interested in the story (tell me all the secrets damnit! Or ... idk start with one!).
Also, I reject the interpretation of Levi half the fandom seems to have... as in, he certainly isn't the nicest person, but he doesn't constantly go around to beat people up for funsies wtf.

I don't understand why this particular pairing is so popular. I get why it exists, Eren does sort of admire Levi. But he has a lot of meaningful interaction with plenty of other characters.

I don't think just because you see people shipping things a lot means they don't care about the series. It's just a lot of bad intense shit happens in the series so fanfiction gets used as a breather.

man yeah, like i typically WOULD like a ship like this (power struggle kinda dysfunctional dash of violence etc whatever), but i seriously don't get eren/levi at all. they have no chemistry, really? and the beating up scene that the fandom exploded over was just a straight-up unsettling "beating the shit out of someone" scene, it kinda bothers me that fandom keeps treating it like "bondage" and "lol it's like bdsm! XD"

but that's just me.

I don't hate this ship in principle. People can ship what they like and I get that there are some aspects of it that would appeal to some people.

But the fact that it's THE most popular pairing and I see it absolutely everywhere is so baffling to me I've come to really, really dislike it.

I mean what? What the everloving fuck happened? The only explanation I can think of is it become a bit more popular than expected, and then people started shipping it based on the fanwork and it all got out of control from there.

I kind of like the ship, but I don't understand why the even the people who make the ship fluffy latch onto the beating and ignore the scene where they remind everyone that Levi isn't actually that violent and Eren isn't scared shitless of him.

Also shipping doesn't really say much about how someone watches a show. Most shippers seem to keep it on the side, secondary to the actual plot.

Honestly, I feel like the only reason this ship is so popular is because Levi is popular and people needed someone to slash him with, and since Erwin is all old and stuff and Eren is the main character anyway people latched on to him. And that's why the ship annoys me, because it feels like under normal circumstances it would be a pairing with a handful of dedicated shippers, but because Levi is the fandom darling it became huge and you can't even look for fic about the rest of the cast without tripping over it. (That, and I have yet to find a fic for this pairing that didn't seem hopelessly OOC because people aren't shipping Levi/Eren, they're shipping Fanon Levi with Generic Uke Disguised As Eren Jaeger.)

As far as shipping goes, I'm very surprised that Eren/Armin is not popular? Especially since Armin is his closest (male) friend, and you get scenes like Eren dying for him. I thought people would be all over that, but I was wrong.
