(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Minesweeper, sadly

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't know there was a non-musical version of this.

Same. I thought the Broadway musical was it.....

I am dreading the day when they try to do a Schinder's List musical. And I can just imagine some guy trying to pitch it, "No, it will be all serious. Like Les Mis but with Jews and Nazis!"

Oh, God....

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be The Producers.

As far as I know, there isn't a musical version of Apollo 13.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
There should be. "Houston, We Have a Problem" will be the signature number.

Chess is actually pretty amazing, and is far more about social and political and war-specific issues with Russia, America, etc. It's also a love story but kind of one that's meant not to be admired, just tragic.

+1

Sorry, I can't think of anything else to say.

True, I'm reading the responses and wonder what rock people have been living under since the concept album put "Bangkok" on heavy radio rotation in '84.

I love the Original Broadway Cast and the production so much. I even love the official cast album too (there are *ahem* archival press-reels and other things of this production). Judy Kuhn rocks as Florence (much better than Elaine Paige IMO), as does the late David Carroll as Anatoly (his "Anthem" is the best).

I think the reason a lot of fans wants to say this production didn't exist is because it was as big as a flop as "Carrie the Musical" was during the 1988 Broadway season (which was a huge season for Broadway because of "Phantom of the Opera" at the time).

Very underrated right next to "A Chorus Line" and "Elisabeth".
