I don't watch Elementary but all I seem to see about the show is praising it for it's inclusiveness and excellent diverse cast writing blah blah blah. Are there a lot of ableism and the like jokes peppered throughout? Has Tumblr been lying to me all this time? *gasp*

Tumblr's SJ brigade lying, yeah I can see how that would come as such a shock. Pretty much though, they just saw No!Moffat Gurl!Watson and declared it a utopian retelling, letting it pass uncritically. Actually watching it is like a totally different show from the tumblr brigade's version.

I'm usually pretty sensitive to ableism and mental health humour, given I've got a pretty severe mental illness, and I haven't noticed anything like that. If anything, mental illness has been treated fairly sensitively. Sherlock gets really pissed off at people taking advantage of mentally ill people, as happens in one case, and while another episode has a schizophrenic man suffering from a delusional episode, it's not played for laughs as far as I recall. Sherlock's addiction is also handled pretty sensitively.
