What are some songs whose lyrics you have misheard or sang incorrectly?

When I was a kid I used to think the song Bullet with Butterfly Wings by The Smashing Pumpkins was saying "smells like eradicate." I was like 17 before I realized what is ACTUALLY said.

And I still hear Manfred Mann's Blinded By The Light as, "Wrapped up like a douche."

Whenever I listen to "Where Did You Sleep Last Night," I hear "just about a mile from here" as "disemboweled a mile from here." I know what it's supposed to be. I cleared this up with Google years ago. But, tell that to my brain. :P

The Mark Lanegan version (which I actually prefer) kills this, because the phrasing used in that one is "a mile and a half from here." Still, I won't deny that I almost prefer my wrong interpretation, because it makes so much sense in the context of the verse.

I listen to a lot of Hanson (shut up) and there's one song from their "This Time Around album" where the lyric is "Do you love me, little pretty?"

For the longest time I always heard (and seriously, seriously prefer) "Do you love me; ain't I pretty?"

Whenever I hear "Africa," I always sing it "as sure as Kilaminjaro rises like an empress above the Serengeti." I know it's really "rises like Olympus," but I don't care. I like mine better.

A friend thought the line in the Green Day song Boulevard of Broken Dreams was "I wish a polar bear would find me." That one became a long-standing joke.

I thought Smells Like Teen Spirit was mostly incomprehensible until Patti Smith did it with banjo.

(Back in the Hoover era, the FBI launched an investigation of Louie Louie. They missed the soft-spoken "fuck," when one of the band bungles, and declared it "incomprehensible at any speed.")

Ben Folds Five's "Battle of Who Could Care Less", I always heard "unearned unhappiness" as "utter not-happiness". I actually like that version better - it sounds more like "Wow, you're not even actually even pretending to be bored/depressed/whatever, you're just trying to be the epitome of ... not happy."

This wasn't actually mine, but someone else's misheard lyrics, but I loved it so much that I now sing it this way. Shamu, the mysterious whale (instead of U2's actual "she moves in mysterious ways.") XD

Kind of late, but since no one brought it up…I always, always mishear lyrics in Adele's songs. My favorite so far is "Rumor Has It," which I always mishear as "Uma has it." As in Uma Thurman. It still kind of fits, though, so I will probably never hear the right words. D:
