Exactly. Even if he didn't have a tv at home back in the forties, it's not that hard to guess that technology improved over a couple of decades and now we have high definition.

I think a lot of tech is not intuitive. I don't understand how to work many things, and I'm firmly rooted in this century. LOL

I think Steve is extremely smart and adaptable and would learn quickly, but I have no problem with the idea that he just doesn't get stuff about how 21st century tech works.

Newer tech actually is pretty intuitive - the problem is, someone who's learned an older ruleset and is trying to get the hang of something new isn't using intuition, we're operating off of expectations formed with the tech we first became familiar with.

Meanwhile, hand the newest tablet to a nine-year-old, and they'll have the thing doing backflips before lunch time.

I don't expect Steve to be browsing Facebook on his smartphone, but there's a middle ground between being tech-savvy and and having trouble understanding how to change the channel. There's some stuff that Steve might not get, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that he would pick up on some of the more basic technology we've got.

Shoot, I'm not even in the Avengers fandom and now I want fic of someone trying to "teach" Steve about our Wondrous Future Technology, and his reaction to be "Well, it might be a bit more fancy but it's still a TV."

Dude, practically the first scene in the Captain America movie is him at a movie. And the deleted scene from Avengers shows him at least functionally able to use modern technology (we see him using a tablet twice in the movie, and he knows what Tony means when he says he's been hacking SHIELD's computers). I get there is a lot he would miss out on or be confused by, but this is a guy who adapted to extremely advanced technology in the middle of a war with barely a blink, I don't think he's going to break a tablet every time he tries to use it when people can hand these things to their toddlers just fine. -_-

Before Bucky (whom he met later in life in the comics) Steve's best friend was a guy named Arnie, who, when he came back... came out. As much as folks from that era did.

UGH, THAT ONE. Like, seriously, folks, do any research. ANY research at all. In WWII they had cartoons to show the troops about not getting VD from strange ladies. The Army songs dating back to...whenever there have been Army songs are utterly filthy. He grew up in Brooklyn. In the thirties. He's not some wide-eyed precious lamb.
