The drama CD sounds not good, but whatever. When is FFX coming out for the Vita?

Yep! It comes out for Vita March 18 this year in North America :)

1) I am confused.

2) I will laugh until I piss if they make a third one.

3) I am still really fucking confused that shot is from the international version and the summary makes no sense. What is going on?

This secret is definitely from the Nova Crystallis FF news site. They often use screencaps for the game in question that don't really have to do with the specific details mentioned in their articles. It's just to give some context, I'm guessing.

The summary is for Final Fantasy X-3 (blech tbh). There is nothing set for it officially, but there is some talk that it might happen if the demand for it is high enough. Just SE looking for new ways to rake in some cash, so nothing new for them.

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2014-01-04 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooookay. I thought maybe the OP had been tricked by someone passing off the international version as a third game.

I honestly don't see there being enough of a demand for it but maybe I'm wrong. True, SE looking for cash isn't new. Them not trying to do something interesting is also not new. All companies want money. It's just be nice if SE tried for something a large percentage of people wanted. (Though I will admit they sometimes strike gold.)

Thank you for explaining it to me anyway.

Agreed on your second point! I wish I could be surprised by any of this.

If they tried for something a large percent of people wanted, we'd only be getting FF7 and nothing but FF7.

Okay, NEGL, I love FFX and FFX-2, I don't care how ridiculous it is. I love all the flashy clothes and the different classes, and I found the game-play to be loads of fun and varied, plus I ADORED Paine and Gippal and Baralai, and I thought it was just a great, underrated game.

But this is my first time hearing about an X3, and I'm kind of horrified because imo the series left off at a great place and I don't want them to screw that up. Or break up my childhood OTP. Yuna/Tidus 4evar.

Yessss the games were so good! X had an amazing story and X-2 was loads of fun! No shame ^^ so glad to see some love for them!

Yea, I'm delighted to see other fans that love them unabashedly! I don't even love FFX-2 in a 'so bad it's good' way, I just love it. I keep wanting to go back and replay them so the HD collection is perfect.

The radio drama wasn't TOO bad for me personally, but the novella reaction has been widely negative. No one's gotten their hands on the full thing just yet (I assume it's because they don't actually want to pay money for how bad it sounds), but everything coming through just ruins all of the stuff X and X-2 set up.

I hope the fact that the Japanese fanbase hates it means they won't continue with it now. I was fine with where it ended, too.

I didn't realize there was a radio drama before this secret, and I'm not exactly sure what it includes, but the series left off in a great spot and I just feel like bringing Sin back and screwing up the characters lives again for drama (and realistically, money) sounds uninteresting and kind of frustrating. I'm not sure how FFXIII's spin-offs and sequels have done, but after a certain point I think SE should just move on to a different story and universe.

But...eh, maybe it'll be better than anyone expects. If they do go through with it; maybe the fanbase will change their mind, but I have my doubts. If they hate the idea of X-3 as much as you say then maybe it will.

[personal profile] ex_earthshaker594 2014-01-05 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
My concerns were the same as yours, and although they did specifically mention Sin, the drama at least made it sound as if it could be executed in a feasible way, although I'd never buy it. I also admit to just plain enjoying some of the random bits (Lulu becomes mayor of Besaid! People apparently treat Jecht and the others like rock stars to the point that people come forward as their kids--the fact that they're rock star equivalents makes me grin). I felt okay after the drama. Not amazed, but okay.

Then I heard about what the novella was doing and threw up my hands. If it had been the radio drama without the novella, it may have been different, but the novella has gotten a lot of well-deserved flack for what sounds like gore and random, uncomfortable sex bits, and I'm not sure if games sales would be enough to make S-E feel encouraged without that. I hope they don't. The drama is automatically part of the re-release, so we'll have to wait and see.

I just want my XII HD re-release, honestly. I grew fond of it over the long, LONG XIII reign (it did well enough in Japan that they went with those, which is why the Japanese fanbase matters so much here) and that also rides on how well this re-release does.

Secret 6 - Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster (videogames) voice drama

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2014-01-04 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is a screen-capture of a news report on the videogames "Final Fantasy X" and ". It has a picture from a Japanese version of a RPG battle screen where Rikku (?), a blond haired woman with tanned skin is doing battle through dancing?, and the actual news article goes like this:

"Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster voice drama spoilers leak out, suggest sequel is inevitable

From what we know, Tidus and Yuna call off their relationship at some point as she sets off to defeat Sin again, who has somehow reappeared in the world of Spira. Written by scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, the voice drama takes place after the events of Final Fantasy X-2 and it along with the 2.5 novel attempt to expand the universe started by Final Fantasy X.

You are my favourite! ^^

·the video games are a part of the Final Fantasy X trilogy (Final Fantasy X, X-2, the HD Remastered versions for PS4 - which includes the international versions.)
·Rikku is indeed blonde and tanned! She is also a 17 year old (and is super lovely omg). In the screencap, she is in battle and the focus is on her because she had just changed into her Festival Goer dressphere (which is an International dreasphere for Final Fantasy X-2). Each dressphere has its own little scene for when either of the girls change into any of them.

...heh, sorry ^^; I LOVE talking about these games. I know them backwards and forward with my eyes closed and my hands tied behind my back. Favourite games right here! (although I am not here for this X-3 :/)

Thanks! I will add this to page 2.

(I have a question, though; if it's a trilogy, which is the third game? The one mentioned in the secret?)

Final Fantasy X-3 is in talks, but nothing has been set in stone. SE has stated that thwy would love to see a third installment of the X games if the demand for it is high.

I kind of lumped the internatuonal versions in there, especially since X-2 has a Last Mission addition to it, so I guess that doesnt quite make up a trilogy ^^;

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you seen any of the content of the X-2.5 novella yet? It's not sad and pathetic to want the series left alone. They're about to make it COMPLETELY TERRIBLE.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
are you talking about the demo at the end that theyre going to include with the remaster?

[personal profile] ex_earthshaker594 2014-01-04 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, there's an actual novella on sale on Amazon.jp. The reviews and ratings sum up the general reaction, but I've read translations of what people have managed to find thus far and it's much worse than anything the drama stated.

Ha, I would be kinda annoyed with a third game that make Tidus' coming back canon; I always have Yuna turn down Anima's offer because I think it's the most fitting ending to the themes of the game.

(Short version, if anyone cares: throughout the game almost every plotline, major and minor concludes with with the characters involved realizing that they need to let go of the past and get on with their lives. Yuna, on the other hand, outright admits (in a few of the chapter 5 area-closing quests most notably, I know it's a big part of how Luca and Macalaneia Woods end, and I think there was one other where it was a big focus) that she knows she needs to but isn't ready to yet. So to me her finally accepting that it's time to move on (as opposed to not getting a choice if you fail to do everything to get the good ending) is the most satisfying and thematically appropriate ending.)

(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I like that X-2 gives you the option. I'm glad I can always pick the fitting thematic ending or the fairy tale happy ending depending on what I feel like.

I know S-E wouldn't be like Bioware in their attempts to respect canon choice--as much as Bioware is unpopular right now--but I kinda wish they would be.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
THIS. When I found out that you can bring back Tidus for real, it pissed me off because (1) it ruins the absolutely fantastic ending of X, which I considered the best ending for a FF ever because it fit and it wasn't happy for happy endings' sake although it was painfully bittersweet but it left an impression on you (and that it made me cry), (2) it ruins the potential of making X-2 a great game instead of having to actively ignore that the perfect ending is a crappy happy ending for happy ending's sake. If it the game was solely about Yuna moving on, it would be lovely (and I wish that they didn't sidelined Lulu, but I disgress).
