You can actually pinpoint the moment where Michonne fucked things up for everyone.

Except for how she never did.

+1

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Not according to the people behind the show.

So, pinpoint for me how *she* fucked it all up?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well for starters, Andrea would likely still be alive.

[personal profile] tabaqui 2014-01-04 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
And we care, why? She didn't get Andrea killed - Andrea should have had half a fucking brain and GOTTEN OUT OF THERE when Michonne asked her to leave, instead of trying to be all superwoman, i-can-make-it-all-better bullshite that actually did not help *at all*.

I disagree with anon that Andrea's death was Michonne's fault but at the same time, I can totally understand why Andrea wanted to stay in Woodbury. The Governor seemed like a pretty swell, charming dude to begin with - we knew he wasn't because we had an outsider's perspective but. I can understand why Andrea wanted to stay there even though Michonne was telling her they should leave (and to be honest, Michonne didn't really do herself any favors being so uncommunicative about it).

I think Andrea's problem was that she tried too hard for too long to make things better and by the time she realized she couldn't, it was too damn late. But I hate the way she went out. It was pretty clear the showrunners were like "WELP WHAT DO WE DO WITH HER NOW???" and couldn't come up with any ideas. :\

Yeah, she totally didn't deserve to go out the way she did, but she irritated me from season two onward, so i was just exasperated with her completely by the time we get to Woodbury.

I guess, in a zombie apocalypse, my first impulse would be to stay *away* from places like that, because tin-pot dictators like the Governor are way more likely than not. She should have left the night she saw the 'zombie fight' crap going on in the arena. I sure as hell would have.

Yea, I'm with you; Andrea wasn't my favorite and she def made some stupid decisions, but I can understand a lot of them from her perspective. (Like you said, staying in Woodbury. Me, I'm paranoid. My first thought would be, "Is this person going to turn batshit? How are they maintaining this?" but still, she was in the zombie apocalypse and came across this nice town with running water, and lots of food, and plenty of survivors, and even if that is sort of suspicious at that point wouldn't you want to believe that things weren't too good to be true? Maybe it wouldn't be smart to take everything at face value or not listen to Michonne, but I sort of get it. (Again, like you said, Michonne wasn't willing to discuss it with her at length and gave her an ultimatum pretty quickly.)

(Though admittedly by the time Andrea found out Gov kept his dead daughter and had a zombie aquarium she should've shanked him. Not a great decision.)

But Andrea could've turned things around I think, if only the showrunners would have let her. IMO she was just too unpopular by that point and they didn't want to bother with her storyline anymore.

I understand why Andrea felt like staying may have been a good idea at first - I mean, Woodbury was seductive in every way, including the Governor's bullshit, and she was tired of living like a refugee - but much later, when she had plenty of evidence that the man was crazy and dangerous and was standing over his sleeping body with a knife and didn't go through with it? That's completely on her. Andrea is dead because of Andrea, not Michonne. Hell, a lot of people are dead because of Andrea. And I loved the shit out of that woman, and I think she went out redeemed (even though I feel like she shouldn't have gone out at all), but she screwed up really badly at that point.

Okay, so then the people behind the show could have made it so she didn't fuck things up then? This argument is so stupid, especially since she didn't fuck up the show in the first place.

Yeah. She made him a psycho monster. sure. He was all sunshine and rainbows and peaceful co-existence right till them. Damn you Michonne. Damn you

(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Lol for real. Dude had chopped off heads for shelf decorations. Clearly something was off from the get go.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
ah, governor stans

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. She should've gone for his jugular instead of his eye.

Fucking this. Then maybe all of the last half of the last season would *never have happened* and we'd have had actual story and stuff.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, like more great stuff with the flu.

I'd go for pretty much *anything* other than what we actually got.

I really liked the flu arc tbh. Everything sucks everywhere, survivors! You get nothing.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked it too. The problem with post-apocalyptic worlds is that EVERYTHING is a struggle. Even if you dodge the zombies, you've still got to worry about food, shelter, disease.

Pretty much this. It can't be all zombie fighting all the time, there's plenty of other hardships to face and not exploring them would be a waste.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, Governor sympathizers like you are just disgusting.
