The injuries thread...
(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)I've only ever broken my arm and it was in the first 5 minutes of my very first (and only) karate class. I begged my mum for lessons for ages and then when we were doing warm-ups by running around the room an older boy pushed me into a wall.
Re: The injuries thread...
(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)That's the only serious injury I've ever had, luckily.
Re: The injuries thread...
I've got all kinds of scars and bones. Standing out ones are:
- Long thin scar on arm from job as a gardener, took a chainsaw to a really big succulent weed thing (bigger than me) and one of the leaves/spines cut my arm open.
- Scar-hole in knee from a fall I took in a storm on a boat. Handles on fire extinguishers CAN stab you if they hit you hard enough.
- I've dislocated the one knee 4 times, each time more painful than the last and it makes me really nervous to do anything that puts stress on it. Like running.

Re: The injuries thread...
Another one on the back of my hand from where I burnt myself on a hot cookie sheet.
Another burn scar on my upper arm from where I ran into a rack of hot pans.
Some faint scarring/marks on the edge of two of my fingers from burning myself with steam.
Scars on my knees from tripping and falling, and bloodying them up some.
That's all I can think of.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)I do have some serious burn scars, though, from a motorcycle accident when I was a kid.

Four days and two surgeries later when I finally came back home from the hospital, what's the first thing I did? Climbed onto the back of the couch, and tried to jump off of it.
Re: The injuries thread...
(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)Two of my more interesting scars are burns - one pretty big one on my right inner ankle, which was a second degree burn: My father took me on one of the first rides on his new bike and I was stupid and got off on the wrong side and touched the hot tailpipe with my leg.
The other is a small and perfectly round scar right under my left hand's thumbnail. I have no idea which degree that one was, but I got a drip of burning/molten plastic on there once.
Oh, and I also got my right thumb caught in a bread slicer once, but luckily, it didn't go deep enough to cut it off.
Re: The injuries thread...
(Anonymous) 2014-01-06 12:04 am (UTC)(link)I also have a small burn scar on my chest from a flaming marshmellow + windy weather.
Re: The injuries thread...
(Anonymous) 2014-01-06 12:04 am (UTC)(link)I really wonder, sometimes: There is this whole fat acceptance movement, and they go on and post tons of pretty fat girls, but they all have the same flawless (or flawlessly photoshopped) skin as the thin models. It's kind of sad, really.

-the large one on my foot from fucking sharp gravel being dragged over the top of my foot by the tide. THANKS PACIFIC OCEAN, I LOVE YOU TOO.
-the little one on my side where an asshole child pinched me really hard when we were in preschool. I still have it, fucker. >:(
-honorable mention to the little one above my ankle from a piece of glass (dropped a glass barefoot), for the trouble it caused me. It developed a seroma, but it took like three medical professionals (and a fucking x-ray to double check there was no glass embedded in my leg) to tell us that's what it was and that it's totally benign. If I'd gotten a stitch put in the cut immediately, it wouldn't have happened. But B vitamins and a pressure bandaged closed it up in like 2 days, after having this annoying, mysterious, sock-ruining oozing wound for 3+ weeks. *sigh*

(Anonymous) 2014-01-06 12:18 am (UTC)(link)I also have a tanline from six months ago when I went kayaking and I'm not really sure if it's ever going away at this point.

But I've spent the next 17 years being pretty injury free.
Re: The injuries thread...
One of the scars I have on my knees are from my first big girl bike, which was a bit too big for me so when I tried to get off it I fell down on the asphalt.
I also have scars between my boobs from drunkenly losing cigarettes down my cleavage.
Oh and under my foot I have a scar from the beach (with a piece of glass or stone still in my foot).
I also got two scars on the inside of my upper arm from my birth control, on is a straight line and the other is a circle.
And that was the start of a really long list of scars, I am seriously clumsy. Oddly enough I have never broken anything, but I can almost put my ankles in a 90 angle, from twisting them too many times....
Re: The injuries thread...
(Anonymous) 2014-01-06 12:25 am (UTC)(link)The only ones I can ever really talk about are my chicken pox scars and that one massive scar from a car accident.
Re: The injuries thread...
My other two scars are more interesting. One is from a couple years ago when I was trying to introduce two of my rabbits to each other. Did not go well, and not only did they start fighting, but they wound up rolling in a furious furry tangle of bunniness into another room. I followed after, managed to separate them, and went to grab one of them as she was trying to evade me to get at the other bunny again. Touched her from behind, she thought I was the other bun, and turned her head and bit down hard. So now I have a scar from where a bunny accidentally attacked me. ;)
The other is from a con where I was cosplaying Lunatic from Tiger & Bunny, and the boots I was wearing didn't fit very well around my skinny calves and a rough edge kept chafing on the inside of my knee. After a day of that, I had a big painful red mark that stayed visible for a few months. It still turns up when I take a hot bath. Every time since then, I've worn leggings underneath the boots. :P
