Look, there were huge arguments about this on F!S just the other week. SOME PALE BLONDS HAVE NATURALLY DARK BROWS. It's not a non-existent fantasy look (although I should also re-enforce the point that Lee's character is not human), some people have that appearance normally.

I know it's apparently possible for pale blondes to have dark hair - though I've never personally seen it naturally as jarring as the examples listed - but I agree. It does look a little unnatural to me, because most of the time irl it's a good sign of a bottle blonde.

While real-life people can have blond hair and dark eyebrows, I think that kind of falls into the "reality is unrealistic" trap - in fiction, things have to be more consistent than they would normally be in real life, or it stands out as wrong to the audience.

And I wish that people would stop complaining about dark eyebrows with blonde hair as if it is unnatural. It isn't. Plenty of people naturallly have blonde hair and dark eyebrows. I did as a child, and I still have light brown hair and almost black eyebrows.

I'm so sick of people always bringing up "but some blondes have dark eyebrows!" Yes, SOME do. A lot of them don't, especially those who have extremely light, almost white-blond hair. Exceptions confirm the rule and all that, but the LARGE majority of blondes I know (and I live in a country with many many blondes) have at best dark blond eyebrows. I know exactly ONE blond person with really dark eyebrows, and frankly? She looks like a fake blonde because of that.

The part that bugs me is not the colour of Thranduil's eyebrows but how damn thick they are! Dany's eyebrows don't hit me wrong because they probably had plenty of allowance to pluck and shape them nicely, but Lee Pace has those thick bushy caterpillar eyebrows that'd look perfect on a Dwarf, but on an Elf...? Ehh... sorry, it doesn't look right to me!

Fun fact: some natural blond[e]s have dark eyebrows. My eyebrows are very similar to Lee Pace's and my hair is blond (darker blond than these platinum elves and whatnot, but still unmistakably blond).

Both my siblings have light hair and dark eyebrows (I'm the only dark-haired one), and this still bugs the shit out of me. You can TELL it's fake on these actors. All the actresses with fake fucking dark red hair and black eyebrows too.

Maybe it's because I'm so attuned to seeing it "done right", but it seriously infuriates me how the hair and make-up departments don't seem to have any concept of color coordination. Alter their eyebrows just ONE OR TWO SHADES and it would FIT, nobody would be able to tell the blond hair isn't natural on them. But this? This is garbage.

Naturally blonde eyebrows don't bother me, although I prefer dark brows--they're easier to see and so more expressive, imo--but dyed blond brows often look WRONG to me. Kpop groups change their hair all the time, and half the time they go blond with dark brows and half the time they lighten the brows, and the lightened ones always look weird and off. For some reason, ESPECIALLY big strong brows look weird to me bleached.

I feel like they could get a better wig for her.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with dark eyebrows on a blond-haired person. David Gallagher's coloring is natural (at least, I'm pretty sure) and Marilyn Monroe's is not, but neither looks wrong to me.

Fuck all the psychology bullshit and the 'but this can really happen!!' crap. It looks like shit, it exaggerates how shit those platinum wigs look, and it fucking emphasizes how shit actors are (yes Orlando Bloom and Emilia Clarke are shit actors).

Maybe because people with lighter hair rarely have each hair the exact same color. I have darker blonde hair, and it's a natural mix of colors but together it makes dark blonde. My eyebrows are the same. But when someone bleaches their eyebrows or hair, it all becomes the same color and that makes it look fake. IDK, what do you guys think?

I don't have anything to say about the main point of the secret, but I agree about the Danaerys actress's wig distracting from bad performance.
