I'm not really involved (never been in to MLP in any form), but it kind of seems like that's how it is? Or at least how it would be if the two groups stopped antagonizing each other?

In the earlier days of the fandom, before /mlp/ came about, the pony porn people were in the minority. People would get mad at others for posting porn or gross shit. They also seemed better with female fans than most people on 4chan. I don't know if Bronies are the majority, but they're definitely the loudest, and the more antagonistic. I don't think I've seen anyone on the other side attack them.

I've seen a lot of weird scolding and disdain from both sides.

I dunno, the whole thing just kind of weirds me out, because there are all these grown people, in fandom, of all places, who are acting like they've never heard of cartoon porn before. Now, cartoon porn isn't my bag, but I've known about it since pretty much the very instant I went online for the first time, and have comfortably coexisted with it for the last 13+ years. Bronies aren't the first to do it, guys.

I've seen people on TV Tropes RAGE against Tangled porn, so MLP definitely isn't the only target here.

(Yes, they were angry about sex between a grown man and woman who are married. Their only complaint was that there shouldn't be porn of a movie where the target audience is kids.)

I know it's not MLP-exclusive (I've seen a lot of similar pearl-clutching about ATLA), but it really seems to be a mid-2010s thing. Until recently, cartoon fandoms just kind of... Had porn. And there wasn't like, a moral panic about it. :/

It's especially weird when I see people I know who've drawn porn of shows like Adventure Time and such still lambast bronies as terrible perverts.

They're definitely not the first to sexualize cartoons or even non-humanoid cartoons. Come to the Pokemon porn pool sometime, where nothing is tagged and Gardevoir always has giant boobs. Seriously. It's fucking everywhere but, hey, people hate bronies so only they are terrible!

Ehh, there's some decent ponyfans on tumblr and elsewhere.
Bronies and /mlp/ can fuck off though.

It's worth noting that FIMFiction's head admin has a favorites list full of stories about adult ponies having sex with foals. Attempts to purge or further segregate that part of the site are pretty much doomed while he's in charge. (I think Equestria Daily bans mature content of all stripes, though.)

Nooooot really. They've let some rather sexy pics through before. Not porn, no, but the whole stocking thing with the sexy blushes and shit have been posted before (of course this was a few years ago, haven't had the interest to check since then). And it was worse cause the CMCs were a part of that series...ew.

And I've heard that when Sethisto is the one doing the art posts, there tends to be a few more sexish pics come through, but the other admins aren't as bad.

While not totally purged, you are right about the other site mods, they seem to have convinced Sethisto to tone it down, at least anything involving the CMC or other kid characters seems to be completely avoided now, and the other mods keep things pretty clean (Calpain can get iffy at times, but I've only noticed it rarely from him).

There's the occasional image that pops through still, and they have cropped porn images to use in posts, although I can't say how much of that is intentional since at least a few of the mods have claimed that they took the images without realizing that they were cropped, or got them from edited versions with the explicit stuff removed. The sexy outfits and posing are definitely rare to nonexistent for art posts nowadays, I think I've seen maybe 3 pictures in the last 2 months that could be considered inappropriate for the target audience.

The site is still more aimed at the teenage and older fans though, so I wouldn't let a 6 year old browse it unsupervised, but then again, I wouldn't ever let a 6 year old surf the internet unsupervised in the first place.

If I realized I was standing next to someone who fapped to either of these shows, I'd take one giant step away from them whilst shielding my children. I don't care if it's just harmless fiction fun, if watching kids drawn as kids and child-like characters gets you hot enough to orgasm, I'm going to think you have pedo tendencies and urges.
