If you like the season that's fine, but surely you can understand why people watching a show called Sherlock expect, and even prefer, that it focus on the characters solving mysteries than dealing with John Watson's love life, right?

Maybe the tide has turned again since I last looked in, but it was all wank, all the time, when I last checked the tags, apparently because she dissed some deviantartist or fanart or smth IDEK man.

This is what drives me nuts the most about the response to season 3. If you liked it, fine, we can agree to disagree. But the people who came out of it still loving Mary and wanting the Sherlock/John/Mary show next season after what she did in HLV drive me spare. If my sister-in-law pulled that 'I'll do anything to keep you with me, even kill' shit with my brother, our entire family would do whatever it took to put her in jail and him in a safe house. And he'd be leading the charge. That is not love. That is insanity. That is abusive behavior. It is not romantic. It is not the sign of a misunderstood gal on the road to redemption. It's the mark of a horrible, horrible person you should not want anything to do with. And they just love her to death and want her racing around with hubby and his bff solving mysteries like she's just some regular person? It's craziness.

And yes, Sherlock shot someone for reasons other than someone being in imminent danger of death or serious injury, too. And I really wish they hadn't done that, because it's just as bad.

Agreed about her behaviour. What the everloving fuck? Were we seriously supposed to root for them getting back together after that? It was madness.

Then they had the gall to try to put that shit on John. Because he apparently secretly likes adventure and danger that makes it ok for Mary and Sherlock to do whatever awful, awful shit they want and he can't hold it against them. No no no no that's not how anything works what the fuck is wrong with these writers

Not OP but, as someone who too loved Series 3 aside from the Mary-plots, I can definitely see why others don't like it and want something that's more focused on mysteries and investigations - if that's the case they should watch Elementary.

I love Sherlock because, as Mofftiss have said, it's not a detective show. It's a show about a detective. It always has been. The mysteries have always been second to whatever relationship drama is going on, whether it's John and Sherlock or Sherlock and Irene or John and Mary or Sherlock and Moriarty. This show is no where near as intelligent as people make out. It's a glorified soap opera - and I personally enjoy that. Does suck for people who don't but, as I said, there are other options and better mystery shows.

That's not the tune they were singing in the interviews for series 1 though. I don't fault them for knowing which side their bread is buttered on, but even a shred of integrity would have been nice.
