I'm confused. Isn't the term "fandom bicycle" a fannish version of "village bicycle", which (to my knowledge) predates use of the term "little black dress" by... a really long time?

I'm assuming it's not a "this term came first!" thing so much as a "I hate that phrase!" thing.

Which, I don't care either way as it doesn't come up an awful lot in my fandoms, but I can see how "bicycle" is a bit more tacky of the two (although neither are exactly flattering).

and if the latter, they're both actually pretty gross if you think too hard about it so if you're going to bother getting up in arms about the fandom bicycle one, you might as well be just as indignant about LBD.

The Little Black Dress term sounds much nicer than Bicycle, the first one is something cute or sexy that works out in a lot of situations. It sounds more like you are admiring that character so much you ship them every which way because you like them. Bicycle is something you ride, it sounds more derogatory, almost slut-shaming.
