Can someone explain... UK health costs...
I'm lucky enough to get my dental work free, due to being unemployed, but even with the NHS voucher I get towards my glasses I still have to somehow find nearly £80 for new glasses due to needing photoreactive lens coating and double lens thinning.
If I had a job, I wouldn't be able to afford either of these.
Re: Can someone explain... UK health costs...
Can't we switch nationalities? I have to get all my wisdom teeth out in the near future, and I am pretty sure I will have to sell my soul to afford it.
*Eye illnesses, as in everything except near and far sightedness and anything dental is free up until 18.
Re: Can someone explain... UK health costs...
I feel your pain with the wisdom teeth. Had to have my bottom right out a few months back, due to it being rotted pretty far down. My bottom left is probably impacted, but the emergency dentist couldn't confirm with an x-ray due to the gum infection in that part of my mouth being so severe I could barely open wide enough for her to get a look. When I went for a regular dentist appointment, she couldn't do anything because I had a cold sore and there was too much risk of spreading it to another part of my face.
Re: Can someone explain... UK health costs...
Yeah, it sucks doesn't it. Oh? that is a lot worse than what happened to me, half my wisdom tooth just broke off during Christmas dinner, but no pain or anything, but when I went to the dentist she filed it off and put on a temporary filling over my now exposed nerve until I can get to the specialist to get it removed, and she said they would probably remove the rest of them at the same time as I would most likely have issues with them all.
*The specialist that your GP sends you to and are equipped to deal with eye sickness and damages not the ones that usually works in the same place you buy glasses.

Re: Can someone explain... UK health costs...
Oh wow, that is awful! But I guess your medical personnel are like ours, overworked and underpaid? So one can almost excuse them, even if that isn't something that should have happened.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 01:49 am (UTC)(link)/facepalm I just read the change to thread title you did, sorry. I'd assumed you were referring to the OP.
