power food

So, I have to write sixty pages before Monday's over; somebody please suggest something easy and highly caloric I can make to tide me over. I hate myself for leaving this project 'till the last minute, but fuck it, I'm stuck. What's your best power-through food?

Chocolate.

I don't know about power-through, but my backup for anything is Kraft macaroni.

peanut butter and banana sandwiches with honey or sugar! that's my shit. if you have time you can grill them with butter and that's even better. also, spaghetti is very easy to do and requires little prep but has plenty of good carbs for energy.

YUSSSSSSSS

I usually go just peanut butter and banana with no honey, but I am amenable to many things. I've also heard good things about adding bacon in to that mix.

I just grab a bad of Cheezits/Goldfish and snack as I'm writing. Making an actual "meal" meal is just another form of procrastination for me.

The Kraft macaroni that inkdust suggests sound pretty good too though.

Trail mix, granola bars, high-fat healthy nuts (walnuts, pecans, cashews, macadamias), anything you can chew on throughout really. Good luck!

Spoonfuls of Nutella. Calories and protein all in a nice little package you don't have to prepare or even chew.

Unsalted nuts (almonds, brazils, walnuts, peanuts etc) and diet coke for snacks.

Cheese sandwiches with wholemeal bread (white bread gives a nice sugar high buth then a horrible down too soon after).

I avoid sugary foods if I want to sustain energy for more than 20 minutes at a time. Fat and caffeine is better.

Oily fish is also good. Tinned fish, peanut butter and wholemeal bread, with an apple after, is an easy meal.

Fat, salt, carbs, protein. Sugar highs are too short, only resort to them if you're desperate, and measure out the sugar bit by bit.

Cheese and pasta is good, so are chops and sausages. Nuts are good too, especially peanuts. Don't go for anything too fibrous, it'll stay like a rock in your stomach if you're stressed, and the effort to digest might make you lose concentration/tired.

You may get a boost from fresh stuff though, so juice or a piece of fruit or carrot or capsicum/pepper.

Good luck. We've all been there.

Other folks have offered some good suggestions, but I would also stress to get some protein in you, and some amount of carbs, because if you load yourself up with sugar and none of that, you will end up crashing hard. Even someone who doesn't normally have glycemic issues can have that happen if they load up too much sugar with nothing to balance it.

My personal suggestion would be peanut butter and whatever form of sugar you prefer (jelly, honey, bananas) sandwiches, because they are a great combination of protein, carbs, and sugar. This is something I've used for getting myself out of a glycemic crash before.

Trail mix and tea. If I really needed to I'd just be running down to the store and buying a bag of that and saying fuck dinner.

For things that haven't already been suggested: Make some ramen, throw in some nice additives you probably have laying around in the fridge (i.e. meat, vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, etc.), and you have a quick but solid meal! :)

Alternatively, just eat some ramen dry/raw - put the uncooked block of noodle on a plate, sprinkle the flavoring powder over it, and think of it like an overgrown chip or something. It's actually really good! Really bootlegged version is to break and slightly crush it in the bag, open it, take out the powder to sprinkle some in, hold the end of the twisted shut to take the bag a bit, and done! :D

Chips and soda are pretty good, too, and some interspersed candy for motivation.

Happy Planet "smoothies". But that might be a local thing... Otherwise, avocados, and apples with peanut butter.
