You can't stop people from complaining. Also, a lot of the complaints about moe and shows that are only for otaku are coming from people in the industry.

As much as I dislike otaku pandering, they are the ones buying the BDs. You can't expect most studios to produce anime that they know will flop. It's their job, they are doing it for the money.

Cry all you want, my otaku siblings, but it's true. We pirate too much and support too little. I think there is--or will be--a growing base of homegrown anime in the Americas and Europe. It might even become mainstream is we support it properly. However, don't ever expect Japan to cater to Western tastes. It usually backfires on them, even when they do it well.

Why does that mean we "don't have the right" to point out that all the creeper otaku pandering sucks?

There must also be Japanese fans who don't care for the pandering. But if they're not into all the moe, then they're also not the target demographic for that sort of content. Does that mean they don't have the right to criticize it either?

I'm just thankful I have a huge backlog of non-moe anime to catch up on. It'll keep me busy for years while the industry continues doing...whatever it is that it's doing. Though I guess I better be quick about it before companies start collapsing on top of their titles and shit like Tokyopop did.

I don't care for moe trends either, but it's been there since forever and ago. And it's kinda hard to be the target demographic when most things that are available is the same thing repeated over and over again.

Honestly, I agree. It's one thing to complain if you actually do buy your damn anime, but if you just pirate shit and the most you do to support the industry is watch free crunchyroll, cry more. Not the target demographic is less of a concern for me because lol Japan knows non-Japanese people buy anime. Series have been made with the West in mind have been made, after all. But if you don't fucking buy your shit, you have no business complaining. At the very least buy a fucking crunchyroll subscription.
