f!s is like this group of cool (and some less cool) people you wanna hang out with and impress except you don't really know how and you don't want to screw it up so you're always second-guessing what you're gonna say
and then one day you decide that fuck it, it's not like their opinion of you can get any lower, so you say what you really think without giving a shit about the consequences
and that's when you realize that some of them actually like you and agree with you, and you're relieved and perplexed at the same time

Probably. I think the overall tone of the place changed, too, because we had a lot of SJWs and radfems running around on LJ. (personal favourite is probably whoever wanted Robert Downey Jr. to get raped in prison because he might be a Republican.)

It's part of the reason we're a bit rabid when they show up here.

Now that you mentioned it, I think you're right. There was a stronger SJW voice on the LJ comm, and when a few of them straggled over here, their reception was colder than it would have been.

Really? Feels more like it got a lot more uptight, with people screaming for bans or thread freezings, and people demanding trigger and spoiler warnings over everything. Lots more things you cannot say ever since we abandoned old LJ.

The thing is, LJFS was practically anarchy. Threads didn't get frozen until well after the SJWs and radfems had started huge fucking fights. Case freezes threads pretty quickly not, and not always by request -- I think he's done a good job in keeping the place civil when at one time it really wasn't (that was part of the draw for me, but I eventually got bored with it.)

We have a few whiny people here, but I'll take a small minority of entitled crybabies demanding I put my music threads in a second comment and trigger warn for having to page down over people telling me I'm a misogynist piece of shit because I like Super Metroid.

That was the stuff I loved, seeing the SJWs getting rammed like they were. And the offtopic threads were fascinating, real community building anecdotes and goofing off. It seems here the SJWs get to have threads shut down before they get rammed, so they win and the off-topic threads get lept on before anyone can have any unsanctioned fun. I'd rather have the anrachy and free-wheelingness of the old lj than the sanitized 90s style mandated peace, love, and always painfully on-topic. This is weak stuff now.

I agree with you partly but not completely. The thread-freezing does kind of annoy me but there are levels of it? And I know it bothers some more than me (like the bad threads do, I mean). We still get plenty of good discussion.

On the topic of the SJW threads, I wouldn't say that the thread freezing means they win. They don't get to play anymore.

It stops everyone else giving them the metaphorical kicking they so richly deserve. A good dog pile on the SJWs is tremendous fun, and publicly dogpiling and humiliating them is the only thing they understand. Freezing a thread is protecting them and giving them victory.

...and some of us are tired of the dogpiling from both sides. Freezing the thread stops everyone from being uncivil to one another.

Then skip the thread instead of trying to stop the people who are having fun in it having fun in it. It is easy to skip a thread after all.

...if you think dogpiling is fun, you are in the minority here, tbh.

no. constant freezing is annoying, but dogpiling is awful.
