The thing I hate about the straight/het community is how some people will make het pairings out of some of the most obviously gay characters ever.
The character may go around chasing boys and spaz out whenever they see one and yet they still go and pair them with other girls in the series.

Heck, he could even have a boyfriend and they'd still do it.

I don't mean to be mean or anything (cause I still enjoy the random het pairing from time to time) but it just doesn't make any sense!

Are you guys just coming up with an excuse to have a het couple in your fandom?

Well, to be fair... it's a lot more rare to have an openly gay character (let alone multiple ones) than it is to have an obviously and openly straight character. That's not the best comparison.

But people deny the gay even when it's RIGHT THERE IN THE ORIGINAL, spelled out several times. So it's basically the same, even if one happens more than the other. Why's it awful and fanbrattish to make a straight chara gay in fandom, but if the opposite is done no one complains?

My point is - sorry, I ship whatever the fuck I want. I don't just ship stuff because it's gay. I ship cause of character dynamics.

And actually, the fact that there're so, so many canon straight pairings might be one of the reasons why people enjoy shipping something different in fandom (and I wanna emphasize 'MIGHT' and 'ONE of the reasons' kthnx everyone's got different reasons to ship stuff).

Every gay chara in CLAMP, even those with a canon declaration of love, are denied to be gay.

Cause Tomoyo's not in love with Sakura, she's just 'confused'. Obviously Sakura isn't, despite being the same age as Tomoyo, just because her love interest is a boy, not another girl.

And Touya and Yukito aren't almost married in the manga, they're just BFF.

And a big etc, there're TONS of non-conventional couples in CLAMP. Everything that's not 'het pairing where both charas are hot and the same age' is denied and bashed by 'het fanbrats'.

Hell, just look at the HP fandom and how they reacted to Dumbledore being gay. And I don't mean the slash fans who rejoiced, I mean those who were saying they'd burn their copies of the books and who said Dumbledore wasn't JKR's to change, etc.

... I think his name was Itsuki, actually. Or Mitsuki. The demon who was in love with Sensui. But that leads my brain straight into the "ITSUKI FOR KYON" quote so I don't wanna swear by that XDDDDDD

There was also a gay pairing in Sailor Moon, which the American translators got around neatly by remaking one of them as a "woman." God I forget their names though, I was never into that fandom.

Elendira the Crimsonnail was sorta gay for Legato in the Trigun manga, but I don't quite remember if he was actually a he or genderless/hermaphrodite, on second thought.

Leeron in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is gay as fuck.

We could probably get into hours of wank arguing if there was actually copious amounts of sexual tension between Officer Leon Orcot and Count D in Petshop of Horrors.

Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter admitted to and was commented as being sexually excited by Gon and Killua's power/"potential." And they're both little boys. I'm not sure this counts thought because since he also wants to wait until they're stronger and kill them, he might be a Special Case. But still, that's there.

Fujikake and Watanabe from Koko wa Greenwood are a canon couple--and that's actually NOT a BL series, despite what it sorta looks like.

On that note, Gravitation is by far NOT the only BL or yaoi manga out there, and it's far from the best--look at Fake, or Loveless, or Cafe Kichijouji, or Fire Candy, or... yeah. And I'm not sure if you're just looking at anime/manga here, but if you're including novels and comic books, I could include many many many more examples.

OH YEAH, CHIZURU, I wasn't going to include Fire Candy because I sorta thought that was a BL manga anyway? :x That's what I heard. Good catch on Chizuru though, more people should remember that awesome character. XD

EVERYONE knows all characters are het by default, that's not dumb, what's dumb is assuming someone is gay, because hinting that someone might be gay is an insult to the character/actor/director/writers/everyone's mother.

I do agree that hardcore yaoi fanbrats are annoying as hell, but making a generalisation like that one is quite offensive. I-if you couldn't tell by all the people going 'wtf no' at you and all.
