Cosmetic/Body Advice

(Anonymous) 2014-03-29 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
As I have grown older (I just hit 25) I have noticed that little peach fuzz around the edge of my face (and a lot of people's faces) has gotten darker - I even had a couple dark long ones that freaked me right the fuck out. I panicked and began tweezing but it doesn't really last that long. I thought about laser hair removal but it's so expensive. What do you do to get rid of unwanted facial hair?

Shave?

I'm trying to grow it out. I want to braid it like a Dwarf and put ribbons in it.

Sounds hot tbh.

Tweeze a few more times because repeated tweezing inhibits growth. Then you can switch to shaving. There are also depilatories made just for women's facial hair so they aren't too super harsh, but avoid them if you have really sensitive skin. I'm assuming you're a woman but you can use them even if you're a man; my SO uses one by Olay that's made for women because he gets razor burn if he shaves more often than every few days but the depilatory doesn't bother his skin at all.

Don't shave unless you want stubble. And it doesn't solve the problem of it not lasting long.

I haven't had this problem myself (yet), but I know my mother uses hair removal cream. This lasts longer than a shave would and you don't get stubble as the hair that grows back is new. If you go for this, just make sure you use the kind for facial hair removal and not for the rest of the body.

Tweeze the long dark ones and bleach the rest.

I love mine, I hope it gets darker and longer. But then, yay androgyny.

I dunno; I just let it grow. I tweezed some and waxed a couple times, but it just grows back.

I see the Nair army has already arrived, but yes, keep plucking (eventually you can destroy the follicles - I did this with a few hairs between my eyebrows, took a couple years) or just use a depilatory cream meant for facial hair. It takes less time and lasts longer than shaving, and it won't give you razor burn or ingrown hairs.

I shave. I only have to do it about once a week. But my hair is really blonde -- the only reason I shave is to keep makeup from caking up on the hair shaft.

I thankfully only have a few darker patches on my upper lip (standard femme moustache), and one dark thick hair on the underside of my chin. Ick. I used to wax my mo, but I have super sensitive skin and the irritation was giving me terrible, scarring pimples on the sides of my mouth, so now I just tweeze all my dark hairs. It might take a few minutes to look 'non hairy', but it'll last at least a week if you get the hairs by the follicle, and is just a super minimum amount of hassle.
