the fandom for this pairing makes the most entertaining edits and photomanips in the entire internet (though dean/castiel fans aren't far behind). they're like 14-year-olds who just pirated photoshop cs2.

This was my first slash ship, way back when!

It definitely was my first slash ship when I joined internet fandom in 2004. I think it was art by Theban Band and a fic by resonant that got me curious.

This is going to sound snobby ,but if you're not a fan of something, are you really in the fandom? I mean, it's fine to read fic for stuff you're not into canonwise, I guess I just generally think of fandom as being, well, huge fans, not fans of fanfiction based on the canon.

Then again, I think I'm a little out of date sometimes.

the harry & draco of H/D slash don't really resemble the H & D from canon anyway. who cares if the OP doesn't like canon when h/d is already OOC trash?

If people like something, read fics, etc, I tend to consider them fans of the thing.

Sometimes you like potential of something more than the actual something. Like all the ideas and creativity are there that you can latch onto and love but the writing just doesn't go in the direction you want it to. And well isn't that a big part of fanfiction in the first place?

lomonaaeren for Draco/Harry fic. Her DW/LJ can be difficult to navigate but she's definitely one of the best D/H ficwriters out there, imo, and she's still writing long, engaging fics. :)

Lightning on the Wave's Sacrifices Arc. Legit ended up being one of my favorite comfort-food-esque book series period, and among my favorite fan works. Serious AU, but better world building than I've seen since-- or possibly ever. /hype

He is a hard read, it gets easier as you get used to his writing style, but try Wemyss (http://archiveofourown.org/users/GMWWemyss/pseuds/GMWWemyss/works?fandom_id=136512)

I know a subsequent secret is all about how judging other people in fandom for what they like is badTM, but I seriously judge fans of the Harry/Draco ship very harshly. The fic is by and large horribly written and vastly OC for both characters.

And yet it seems to currently be the most popular HP ship. Did all of you read a different set of books than I did?

No, we read the same books. We just like the enemies to friends to lovers trope and H/D is great pairing for that.
