Oh wow...I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself and I wish you and your family the best.

Backs. They get some attention, but I think they should get more. I find back really attractive in both men and women. More attractive than chests, in fact.

This. I cannot guarantee I'll read everything, but the idea is great&and I'd participate occasionally.

Stargate SG1

[personal profile] ansela_jonla 2014-04-05 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
How often, if ever, did Jack call Daniel a "space monkey"? Similarly, how often did he refer to Daniel's artefacts as "rocks"?

Janet was the Chief Medical Officer for the base, right? It's not just that she was the most prominent doc and so the only one used in fanfics?

SG1 was the exploratory and first contact team. Other teams had different specialities, yes? Science, archaeology, combat, diplomacy, etc or were these just made up on the fly as and when needed?

Do other people's eyes squint upwards when they smile? My family calls it a "cat's eye" smile, but the only other people I've seen whose eyes do that are of Asian decent, and my family isn't.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my God, I get this too. That moment when the person is helpless to see the danger or protect themselves, and instead of running or going for protection that have to live in that horrible vulnerable moment of going for their glasses, maximizing their helplessness until they can see again and the real horror dawns on them, and then of course it's too late for them to escape; if only they hadn't had to take the time to go for their glasses...it's like an embarrassment squick, isn't it? It really gets to me.

(I don't wear glasses. Go figure.)

A STP is a sort of funnel that persons without a penis (girls or transmen or whatever) can use to, well, pee standing. Personnally I use one because pissing standing and outdoors feels good.

I think that "neblings" (or shouldn't it be "niblings"?) is a term that encompass "nephews and nieces".

I've seen some splashes from this on Tumblr. It's the latter.

Re: Canon or fanon?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Canon, but I don't remember if this was mentioned in the Original Series or only became canon in one of the spinoffs.

2. It's only mentioned that he was "in the army", but in the 1970s, a youngish TV character mentioning having been in the army several years ago was pretty much shorthand for "Vietnam."

At this point, I'm not surprised at ANYTHING that happens there or on any of the Mark Oshiro sites. It is about as far from a safe place as any site/forum/community. Only if you agree with his opinions, stances, and biases are you welcomed there.

I went there as part of the Buffy brigade and I was excited to see someone who was excited about new shows, books, and things. Then things started to get weird. And then scary for me. Not because of the subject matter but because of all of the bullying that takes place there. I am a bisexual, non-christian, rape survivor with disabilities. I have been bullied to the point of seeing suicide as the only escape and what Mark and his mods do to people who don't agree with him was massively triggering for me. The complete disregard for what Willow did to Tara and what Buffy did to Spike versus the outrage of what Spike attempted to do to Buffy bothered me. It bothered me a lot. But nothing took the cake more than what Mark and his mods did to the people who he disagreed with. First he called them out on his tumblr and then sicced his fans on them. Even when he "called them off" later the damage was done.

Mark's a bully and he encourages bully culture by refusing to acknowledge that opinions are just that, opinions. There is no right or wrong opinion. Only when those opinions become actions do they become subject to moral scrutiny. Mark and his mods actions are wrong and bullying and triggering. He stifles all thought that doesn't correspond to his very narrow worldview.

He's as bad as the worst bigoted, racist, sexist conservative. And in my view, he's worse. At least with the bigot you know where you stand and they don't claim to be anything but. With Mark and his sites, which he espouses are safe havens it's a lie and betrayal when what you thought was true turns out to be false.

TL:DR Version - I don't like Mark or any of his sites for reasons.

Yes, what you said. My bad!

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I love this <3 I love using fandomy things as part of coping mechanisms. I have a little notebook that I call "Journal of Impossible Things" and I write or draw or just scribble in it when I'm upset. I pretend I'm John Smith and that I'm transcribing my dreams of impossible things that are actually memories. It's probably silly but playing make believe got me through very bad times when I was little. When my life was falling apart a couple of years ago I started doing it again and now I plan to do it forever.

Because that's what Christians do, they pick and choose the bits that fit their dogma.

It's why people keep bringing up the whole "traditional marriage" thing to throw in the face of anti-LGBT-marriage advocates, and it's why anti-LGBT-marriage advocates completely ignore it.

Welcome to the land of double-think, cognitive dissonance, and hypocrisy. And politicians cater to these people. A lot of them are these people. World's in great shape.

I read about a sect once that believes the New Testament is God's word and the Old Testament is Satan's. You can imagine what they think of the Jews.

Shit Stream 53: WHY DID THEY MAKE THIS 2

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2014-04-05 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Some movies you know are bad right out the gate. For some reason they are made anyway. And everybody else wonders what the fuck they were thinking.

Ever hear of Movie 43? It's got one of the most star power casts ever assembled... and oddly, everybody involved in the movie seemed to try to get out of it for some reason... some succeeded. Some failed. Enough failed that the movie got made. The product at the end makes you wonder why you bothered!

Then, a man with a magical not really explained list that tells him all the women he can sucessfully sleep with.

Too bad he's about to be married and not nearly done... oh well, who needs love right? Lots of sex! SEX AND DEATH 101! Ryder looking cute can't save this!

Saturday 6pm est! Also ignore that horrible fake stream above and come watch winter soldier now!

Also... EVIL HEAD! They couldn't get Bruce Campbell for this one sadly.

slap 5 for collarbones, Anon. You're not the only one who wishes they'd get more love.

Orgasm from g-spot or prostate

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
How many people here can orgasm just from stimulation inside, no outside stimulation necessary? It's kind of really easy for me, so I was surprised that none of my friends can apparently orgasm that way.

Oh no...

That's terrible, and I'm sorry. I've been there and it's a rough road. My sympathies. :(

(It'll eventually hurt less. It'll always be difficult because losing anyone or anything you care about does, but...take care of yourself in the meantime.)
