Edit: Turns out there were two of them. One about Mark Spoils: http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/987226.html?thread=735270746#cmt735270746
And one about Hannibal: http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/985746.html?thread=734479250#cmt734479250

People were banned? Why?

lmao
I probably would have gotten banned because I don't think Beverly was fridged.
Fridging to me specifically means killing a female character solely for a male character's pain or character development. But uh... Bev's death was really about moving the main plot forward. It was something that needed to happen to get Jack suspicious of Hannibal.
And like... they also needed to kill a character to keep the stakes of the show high and Beverly is the obvious choice. Will and Hannibal (and Jack right now) have main character immunity. So once you remove them, you are left with the science bros who no one cares about and thus their deaths wouldn't be impactful on either the viewers or the characters OR you're left with the various female characters that make up the supporting cast. And really, Bev was the obvious choice. It makes sense for her to investigate Hannibal. Freddie could have been killed but then she's an antagonist that I think they'd like to keep around for a while. Alana could have been killed, but as a character she has more to offer the writers due to her past with both Will and Hannibal. It could have been Bella, but she's dying anyway. Or maybe Bedelia, but no one in the cast aside from Hannibal knows who she is so her death wouldn't have affected them as much.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)I went there as part of the Buffy brigade and I was excited to see someone who was excited about new shows, books, and things. Then things started to get weird. And then scary for me. Not because of the subject matter but because of all of the bullying that takes place there. I am a bisexual, non-christian, rape survivor with disabilities. I have been bullied to the point of seeing suicide as the only escape and what Mark and his mods do to people who don't agree with him was massively triggering for me. The complete disregard for what Willow did to Tara and what Buffy did to Spike versus the outrage of what Spike attempted to do to Buffy bothered me. It bothered me a lot. But nothing took the cake more than what Mark and his mods did to the people who he disagreed with. First he called them out on his tumblr and then sicced his fans on them. Even when he "called them off" later the damage was done.
Mark's a bully and he encourages bully culture by refusing to acknowledge that opinions are just that, opinions. There is no right or wrong opinion. Only when those opinions become actions do they become subject to moral scrutiny. Mark and his mods actions are wrong and bullying and triggering. He stifles all thought that doesn't correspond to his very narrow worldview.
He's as bad as the worst bigoted, racist, sexist conservative. And in my view, he's worse. At least with the bigot you know where you stand and they don't claim to be anything but. With Mark and his sites, which he espouses are safe havens it's a lie and betrayal when what you thought was true turns out to be false.
TL:DR Version - I don't like Mark or any of his sites for reasons.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)I feel you anon and I hope you don't go there any more. The new interest in old fandoms isn't worth the crap you have to wade through to get there.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)Spoilers abound for both the show and the book series.
The thing that pissed me off the most was that Beverly Katz lives in the books, and I'll freely admit to being a big canon-plot-stickler (as in, specific characters can change, because characterization is up for personal interpretation, but plot points and events can't change in nature, only in tone, because things might happen subjectively, but they still happen). Also, if it were Will or Jack Crawford who had broken into the house, they would've survived.
Yes, I am very irritated that this show that had so many amazing female characters, female characters of color even, is pretty much now just Alana and Freddie, and maybe the future Lady Murasaki. Don't get me wrong; Fuller could've done a lot less than even those two characters, but from what I've heard of the show, Beverly's death is probably going to be the point at which I stop watching.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)Well, with how this season started it won't be surprising at all if Jack dies this season...

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)Sometimes I wamt to start a rival blog. I'd call it Popped Bubblewap and the rules would be: 1. Don't be deliberately shitty. 2. If you've been offended, say you've been offended and why but recognize youre only seeing a tiny picture of someone so dont attack them for being "awful people". 3. If you've offended aomeone, apologize for offending them (but only apologize for your opinion if you're convinced it was more grand-scale hurtful than you thought) and drop it.
Basically when wank arises, don't be an ass and drop it.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-06 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)I'm actually pro trigger warnings, but when you tell people to warn for stuff like food, images of elevators, the sound of snapping fingers or ANIMALS IN WIGS, you've fallen way too deep into the rabbit hole.
