Why feel smug? It isn't that I didn't notice the idea in the first movie, I just really liked Steve/Peggy and didn't want to ship him with anyone else. Until the dynamic in Winter Soldier clicked for me. Shipping it earlier doesn't make you better.

What is it with all the replies on this? It's a fucking secret. They know it's dumb, that's why it's a secret. And as long as they're not expressing this rudely to people I don't see what the big deal is anyway.

I'm new and I'm happy, that's it. The amount of fic I've bookmarked makes me proud of the shiny fandom. And the fanart. And the meta. And the gif sets. I'm basically always afraid I'll leave the internet alone for too long and then I'll never be able to catch up. D:

Also, I HATE that every time that there are Bucky secrets it's way too late for me and I need to go bed. Fuck you, time zones, fuck you.

I'm just glad people are shipping it and there's plenty of fic and art because things were a lot slower before Winter Soldier. Bless you, Marvel.

(Not that I've read much of the comics, but NGL, Bucky's age threw me off. I knew about it before reading but it was still weird. I'm glad that by the time he became Winter Soldier he was much older.)

Oh, and I agree about this picture being fantastic. UNF. The way they smile at each other... *sigh*

Hmm, well, comic book Bucky has a completely different backstory with Steve so I'm not sure the point of being smug about shipping a relationship with an entirely different basis. But have fun.

Um. Shipping it pre-movies actually makes you an annoying comics fan who drags pairings into the MCU without basis. (It's a pretty common opinion about Steve/Tony, Natasha/Bucky, and probably Steve/Bucky. Just so you know.)

It's not something I shipped in the comics, but tbh I don't ship any of my comic ships in the MCU because it's a different universe with different character dynamics, and while I did get vibes for it in the first film it didn't properly ping for me until I saw WS.

Hey, I'm just glad you're not a super entitled jerk shipper. At least you know you're being smug I guess, and putting the glasses on the pic made me laugh.

That said I'm actually squicked by comics Bucky/Steve, mostly because of the whole age thing.

I don't know if this holds for other people, but I don't usually ship best friends.

I like a little antagonism in my pairings and hey, Bucky (or, well, Winter Soldier) trying to kill Steve is kind of what caught my interest. So I didn't ship it after the first movie, but I sure as hell am now. But I am mainly going by the movies (I don't really go for the comics, although I don't mind fic based, in part, on them).

Shipping it before the first movie as in shipping it after the Winter Soldier storyline in the comics? Or after the casting announcement for the first movie? Or... what?

I can't 'ship Bucky/Steve because I always think of early comics Bucky first before I think of the movieverse... and then when I do think of the movies, I tend to see them as 'brothers' more than as a potential lovers-type thing. But Sebastian Stan is very pretty and he does tortured gay boy very well, so within the movieverse I can't say as I could blame anyone for 'shipping it, either...

I just don't picture his lovely mug first when I hear 'Bucky', I picture a four-color tween...
