Oh man, yes, I love Erica but she was completely manipulated into becoming a werewolf by a hot older dude who KIDNAPPED HER FROM HER HOSPITAL ROOM. Uuuugh so creepy Derek, so creepy.

Plus, later on when they were training or something and she jumped on him and kissed him and he pushed her away and said "I have someone else in mind for you" just GROSS, wow Derek. I'm glad you have ~plans~ for Erica's romances. Mind telling Erica what your plans are?

Just, ugh, wow, alpha!Derek was such a gross creeper. UGH.

I just don't get how they've become this... juggernaut with lots of fans insisting they're almost canon.

It's the fandom favorite character plus the hottest guy they can get top/bottom dynamics out of, and that's all it needs to be in the beginning, other reasoning aside. See also: Steve/Tony and Loki/Tony in Avengers, Levi/Eren and Levi/Erwin in SNK, Kirk/McCoy and Kirk/Spock in the new Star Trek movies, and dozens more I'm sure.

I think the only thing that makes Sterek more of a juggernaut than usual is the fact that a lot of people don't find Scott particularly hot or manly.

It certainly is a small fandom. Was always under the impression that there were more V/D fics than V/V though? Or at least decent fics, ahem.

With V/V there was hardly anything, until a new author started writing for it recently. I think she's single-handedly doubled the number of decent stories out there.

I didn't start reading comics until I got really into the Marvel movies and I just picked up $30 dollars worth at my local store where they know who I am when I come in and just give me the ones they know I'm going to want. It's not unreasonable.

Defiance returning in June. That's about it.

I like multiple votes because I don't have to worry about whether a book I like is going to have enough support that it could win so I'm not wasting my vote on it, or anything.

Vimes does visit for a report at night during Thud!. It's after the gang (c)rumble and Vetinari asked for an immediate report. I've already been through that scene though, it's not there.

the actors are pretty anti-Sterek

I think they're mostly anti-everyone asking about it instead of the plot of the show. You know, the typical fandumb things that crop up at conventions. I haven't seen anything that's an accurate quote of them hating the gay.

I dunno. I like the idea of people picking their top three or so books. Kinda felt like it made up for the only being able to vote once thing, but even so, the problem is I said it would work one way, people expected it to work that way, and I fucked it up. It doen't really matter which one is better, the important thing is it works as advertised, and for that I am sorry. I'll make sure to double check everything next time.

I started watching for the slash and then made my own when I didn't find it, which seems to be normal for that fandom. Maybe you'd have better luck with some of the fic.
