I don't understand this at all.

I can get being happy that there isn't a lot of stereotyping going on. But I can't get being happy that a PoC character has no personality, and is only interesting because they're a PoC.

I think it's more, "Everyone around you is going to see and treat you as black, so don't get too attached to your nuanced ideas about identity, because you're carrying the same baggage as me no matter how complex you try to make it." And Huey's a jerk about it, because Huey's character is to be abrasive and blunt and not to care very much about other people's feelings. I see it as, he thinks he's doing her a favor by forcing her to confront what he sees as an inescapable fact of living in a racist society.

He is being a jerk, but. . . there's a lot behind it that doesn't necessarily excuse him being a jerk, but does make it less arbitrary than it looks sometimes.

Teen Wolf for Derek/Stiles - I too was very surprised at the difference between what fandom lead me to expect and what was actually in canon. I thought Stiles was a canon gay character and that he and Derek would have a lot more interaction than they did. I still ship it in fandom because it's fun, but my shipping in canon is different.

The Sentinel like the above anon - I watched 2-3 episodes, didn't like it and haven't bothered with is since. I can't even remember the characters names.

Loveless - It was one of the first shounen-ai sort of anime's I came across. I loved it when I first watched it, but now find it a little slow and the ending too abrupt and unsatisfying - I do still like it, but don't rewatch it often and actually prefer the manga.

Supernatural for Dean/Cas - My interest was piqued by the idea of a Hunter and an Angel who pulled him from hell and all the fans talking about how they interacted, so I caught up in time to watch the end of season 4 as it ended. I ended up shipping the pairing pretty hard for awhile, then season 6 came and my interest in the show overall started to sour and my shippy feelings with it.

I like Stiles/Lydia too. I also half-jokingly ship Stiles/Danny. I headcanon Stiles as bi.

The only show I can remember watching for a ship was Hawaii 5-0. I heard that Steve and Danny had a sort of McShep vibe to them and that the pairing was popular, then I saw a few fanvids and decided, yea, it looked up my alley and I was going to give it a try.

I adored them right off the bat (as well as the fic, too) and continued watching up until around episode 10 of this season. The show wasn't holding my interest much anymore and Steve and Danny (and Kono and Chin, the other main relationship I cared about) weren't having much screen time together; that didn't help.

I did just pick it back up again though (

ghostofcairo piqued my interest, then I saw some gifs of the two characters exchanging "I love you's" and wanted to know if they were real; they were!) and am only one episode from being caught up. I'll probably stick to it, this time.

Digital sales aren't released so there's no way of knowing what kind of impact the movies have had on comics. I know plenty of people who got into comics from the movies including myself. We buy digital and trades.

These are pretty much my thoughts too.

Funnily enough because of what I had heard about Teen Wolf on f!s(and sprinklings of it on tumblr) I actually expected Derek and Stiles to have less screen-time than they do have, like I thought they only interacted twice a season or something considering how vehement I've seen some people be about people shipping it at all.

I do think it's overwhelming popularity is surprising but I am not surprised at people shipping it. Heck I ship it myself because for me it just works.

There were cupcakes and everybody wished me happy birthday. Great day. :)

Yesterday, I was talking about how excited I was because we were signing for our great new apartment.

Just got news it's not as great as we thought. We're probably still going to get it, but we're really disappointed.

Plus it seems like my commute home is going to be an hour, no matter how late I leave work.

Not familiar with this fandom, but I do love your writing style! Well, from what I can see here of it anyway. :)

Was finally feeling up to going out and running some errands involving cosplay supplies. To quote something from FB that is still true as a great example of cosplay life:

"Oh, just grinding the fake seams off some plastic dollar store baseballs. Soon my robot will have shoulders!"

And now I am pantsless, sewing pants. And the pants are not for me, or anywhere near enough my size that I have the excuse of trying them on.
