Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 12:41 am (UTC)(link)Thank you for using antagonist, rather than villain. Anyone who calls him that will face my wrath quicker than those bar patrons Bucky takes out for calling Cap a traitor.Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
and the only thing he really hopes for is to make Steve proud.
This might be the most depressing (and oddly sweet) sentence I have ever read. Ugh, stop it.
Don't I know it. I get that. When people say he is I wonder what movie they watched. Bucky is a victim, not a villain. He was simply a tool used by the real villain of the story, which was Hydra and Alexander Pierce.Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 01:03 am (UTC)(link)Most of Bucky's time as Captain America was spent with him questioning whether he actually deserved it, and knowing he could't reject it even if he doesn't because Steve believed in him. Natasha, Sam and Clint (after Clint is a jerk for a few months) work on putting him back together, with varying results. It WAS depressing. I have a feeling it will be even more depressing in the MCU, regardless of what happens with Chris's Steve.
You would think the fact that he had to be tied down, drugged and electrocuted might have given them a clue. It's not like Hydra was recharging his goddamn batteries!Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D

How is this even possible? I'm already horrified at the thought that Steve could die and Bucky could be left alone to shoulder the weight of his past and learn to manage a future without him. I don't want any of this. This is too much for my heart to handle.
Some people just don't get it. IDK, man.Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 01:29 am (UTC)(link)It's going to be more depressing even if Steve doesn't die, just due to the canon differences in Bucky, and in his and Steve's relationship. I don't know what it becomes other than a horror show if Steve does die. ;_;
it hurts me that they're so dense. I bet even the little girl that asked Stan how it felt to betray his best friend gets it now!Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
Right, because Bucky in the comics was a teen when he met Steve, and he was his partner, but in movie verse it's suggested they grew up together, had very little else and leaned on one another. Shit, this is going to be bad... But no matter what I'll just be pleased that they're together. I bet they will be too. (Eventually.)
Omg, that little girl. Lol. She was adorable but she was also WRONG. I'm sure she got it later. Let's hope so. Sebastian's face was precious when he heard that question.Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
(Anonymous) 2014-05-25 02:02 am (UTC)(link)boyfriendssoul matesbest friends that see each other through times great and miserable. Encapsulated, their MCU relationship is summed up with the "little guy from Brooklyn too stupid to run away from a fight" line.He also did an amazing job of explaining in simple terms, I thought. Nothing deep, just making her understand that Bucky doesn't know what he's doing.Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
Comic Cap and Bucky were brought together by an outside force and didn't know each other before the war, but MCU Steve grew up with Bucky and so had a stronger connection with him. I see what you mean. Fighting beside someone has to create a strong bond, but Steve and Bucky already had an unbreakable bond that they brought with them to war, so they would've needed each other even more. Ugh. Ugh.
Yes, Sebastian is good at that. Now I want to go watch that interview again.Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
Re: SA: FOUND IT! :D
I read the tie-in for Winter Soldier but never came across the other one. The background information would be nice, if nothing else.

Maybe I can find it elsewhere.

in which the Cap part is about some random mission Steve and the Howling Commandos did, though it inexplicably lacks Bucky
How would Bucky not be in that? Like Bucky would let Steve go anywhere alone after the shit they've been through. Odd... (Still, I will read it. Especially if it has Thor too.)
Just editing to say: GOT THEM. Though I'm having to download adobe reader to read issue 2. OMG bb!Bucky calling Steve an inspiration, and Steve's mother talking about how his heart is ten times the size of his body and awww. Aww.
Editing yet again to say: Awww the Commandos saving Bucky. There wasn't enough of him, but I did enjoy what they did with the Commandos and Carter. Steve and Howard were a nice touch, too. It could've been worse!
