For god's sake, I can't believe you're comparing pedos (you know, people who actually ruin children's lives and traumatize them) with assholes on the internet who hurt your precious and delicate feelings.

Exactly. Back when I was young and impressionable, people used to tell me to kill myself all the time on the internet. Granted I deserved it. But i never gave it a second though, I mean, it was expected when trolling.

This is common sense. Most of the time when someone on the Internet says "kill yourself", they don't mean it. They aren't encouraging suicide. They are using it as "fuck you, you're a stupid piece of shit". Cyberbullying is a serious topic. Trolls insulting people, not so much. If they bother you, just turn off the computer. It's not that difficult.

Yeah? And I was 13 at the time and lived with an abusive mother. Once again the internet is NOT your safe place. If you can't take it, don't go there and stop annoying people with your "feels". Of course, it does NOT apply to actual suicidal people who are much rarer than the internet would lead you to believe.

It's very strange to me when people talk about trolling as if it were an occupation. Something they punched in on a timeclock for, took a half hour lunch break, that sort of thing. I'm not sure if you trolled, anon, (my brain is very, very fuzzy at the moment, which will hopefully improve after I make dinner), but it's just odd to me how people talk about trolling.

Trolling is kind of a blanket word nowadays. It can mean just being harsh, honest or even cruel on the internet. Or just saying things when you know it's going to piss people off.

Telling someone to kill themselves is not 'hurting' someones' precious and delicate feelings' it is something that can and has lead to people actually killing themselves you asshole.

The only person who will actually kill themselves because someone in a game told them too have something wrong with them to begin with.

Yes. Maybe people should be nicer but it's part of the joys of anonymity. The sooner people learn to ignore insults from people you don't know the better your life will be.

Man I've been so disappointed by the CoD community ever since I really got into the multiplayer. They're supposed to be infamous and terrible and full of shrieking racists and homophobes ready to pounce on any girl with a mic to request dick pics, but... that never happens. They're mostly polite, if a little whiny, and the only virulent racists I've ever heard were 1) a tiny Japanese child, and 2) a young Puerto Rican boy trying to mock black people who was then relentlessly mocked by the whole lobby. People mostly just joke with their clan or talk about the game.

The League of Legends community makes them look like proper fucking gentlemen.

Except that they don't catch people on TCAP solely on the grounds for typing sexually to a minor.

They do it when that person actually shows up to commit sexual acts on the child.

A valid comparison would be convincing these people to come out and try to kill / assault / etc the target of their trolling IRL.
Otherwise, this isn't at all similar in any kind of way.

I have found threatening to show stuff to their mothers works wonders. Most of these idiots have their facebooks linked and unlocked. Even grown adults will suddenly change their tune over the thought of mommy dearest seeing how they've been acting.

Someone should do this to Miranda Gunner.

My dad trolls on websites even more than I do,
so this is a pretty funny thought.
