(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 01:15 am (UTC)(link)I am honestly curious about this experience that is apparently common where people are mocked for not enjoying hot bods or something

(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 01:38 am (UTC)(link)Aaaand suddenly it's very quiet here. LOL.
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 01:38 am (UTC)(link)I'm not demisexual in the least and those are problems I run into because I'm an introvert with social anxiety. There's a difference between being socially oppressed and being a social outlier; nobody's going to actually seek to harm you or me because we don't do the club/hookup scene well.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 01:48 am (UTC)(link)Whoops, I interpreted the comment the wrong way, sorry about that. I rescind the second half of my comment, but I stand by the first half. Feeling a bit lonely and side-eyed is pretty standard for everyone who doesn't fit in the flirty social butterfly category.
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 01:45 am (UTC)(link)No, I've been in those situations, or at least very comparable ones. I just don't think that's anywhere close to oppression, or anything that rises above the level of social awkwardness

(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 03:36 am (UTC)(link)Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 06:09 am (UTC)(link)Introverted and happy here. Neither super-sad, nor lonely (nor oppressed, before anyone asks). But thanks for the faux sympathy.
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)But.
1. not everyone, "demisexual" identity or otherwise, is attracted to a stripper. Women (and men) aren't attracted to everyone they meet, aren't necessarily into showcase sex like strippers, etc. Not having an instant orgasm over a stripper does not make you unique.
2. not everyone meets people at clubs, too. You sitting alone at a club is not a circumstance unique to people who call themselves "demisexual".
Sorry if I'm being picky, but I can literally not think of a single circumstance in which a "demisexual" individual would feel disadvantaged that isn't also applicable to "non-demisexual" people. Because the implications that "normal" people are always thinking about sex with strangers or whatever is just nonsense.
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 03:28 am (UTC)(link)That's how I feel when demisexuals talk about their "problems" except I legitimately feel that my problem is much bigger. I think I need a label.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 02:16 am (UTC)(link)Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
Scratch that. I think I do have a Tumblr account. Do you know how long you can have not logged in before they deactivate it? Cuz that's a real worry with my Tumblr account.
On topic: Ogling suggests leering. Sexually base desires. (You can google the official definition if you'd like.) To say that others who are not demi ogle - (and implying that you DON'T indulge in such base desires)...well,
This may be getting too deep for you. We're talking about words and whatnot. How we USE words.
Do they teach that on Tumblr???

Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 02:39 am (UTC)(link)I literally do not understand how you could read that and think "slut-shaming!" even if you're trolling. And I'm using the literal definition of "literally."
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
Now, I can define "lecherous" for you, if you'd like, but it does suggest a rather nasty thing about a person who ogles.
Perhaps you have a different definition than that literal definition of ogle????
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
(Anonymous) 2014-06-21 03:04 am (UTC)(link)Lecherous: having or showing excessive OR offensive sexual desire.
So, if lecherous CAN be staring offensively OR staring lustfully, ogle CAN be a negative term OR it can just be a factual one.
Re: Sexuality v. Sexual Orientation
I suppose it could.
Point taken.
I'd have to ask the OP of that comment, but I'm fairly certain they'd say they did not mean to be offensive. Perhaps they didn't.
